In Season 11’s curtain-closer in Monaco, Adrian Mateos became Spain’s first ever EPT champion. Mateos took down the €10,600 Main Event for €1,082,000 after besting a stacked final table staring Team pokerstars Pro Johnny Lodden, German wunderkind Ole Schemion, and Polish star Jose Carlos Garcia. 564 players from 60 countries took part in last season’s Main Event, creating a prize pool of more than €5.6 million; nearly 190 players won their seats online on PokerStars and accrued more than €1.6 million between them.
