Could be good for the poker market if it brings in new customers for the casino who decide to gamble in some poker, and sounds like they might have blackjack tournies or at least blackjack tables with multiple players so it gives a casino feel to the game of blackjack as opposed to 1-1.

I enjoy a little blackjack now and then, and play sometimes on carbon but its not like I'll get hooked and dump my br because if I feel it might come to that I'll exclude myself from them.....stars has THE BEST self-exclusion setup anywhere. It's usually all or nothing on some sites but with stars you can restrict to limits on the poker tables so imagine there may be a similar setup for casino games probably.

Excerpts from the press release - "Recognizing that some poker players prefer a poker-only environment, pokerstars has enabled features that will allow customers to remove the additional games from their view and to opt out of direct marketing and promotions of the casino games."

I like that they have done this. Gamble Responsibly Girls and Boys. :icon_clow

From a business standpoint, it makes sense to offer this as it will attract new customers. Personally, I have no interest in those games. Even at a casino, I never play those games, so the fact that it is going to be available online for Stars customers, won't change some peoples' gaming habits. It will certainly draw new players to the poker pool, and that is a good thing.

That said though, I am curious as to how successful it will be and if they will track how many casino players there will be vs. poker players logged onto the client. We'll just have to wait and see.

I am looking forward to Pokerstars sportsbetting. Pokerstars and bet365 I like both these brands. but I would like to see a separate client for Poker & casino-betting.

Definitely a plus for Poker.

I don't enjoy other sites because of these games, although I would like to try the Blackjack for something different.

hmmmmm.... how trustworthy will this really be?

i mean as far as roulette is concerned will a computer not be able to figure out which number to chuck up in order to pay out the minimum each time and so that they take in each time?

i wonder how this will be raked also.....

Comments like this are so annoying. :)

It's a RNG that distributes the random numbers. Please get rid of the idea that stars or any other company for that matter that is licensed will randomly try using some illegal software to gain a bigger edge when they guaranteed house profits, along with huge rakes from their poker games. They certainly wouldn't risk a multi billion dollar business by trying to rig it for a few extra bucks.

No rake on house games, for obvious reasons.

When they released this on the pokerstars.es client a few months back I coulden't wait for them to release this on .com and other versions.

There is a lot of out cry about it, however I think it's good for the games. Stars is one if not the toughest site out there mainly because it's a poker based only site so whilst you still get gamblers, the real gamblers are on for example 888 which have always been a casino based site.

I doubt it's going to take much action away from the poker tables and the newer players looking for casino based sites will all flock here generating (hopefully) games as good as the 888 software, added to the fact pokerstars software is soooo much better than any other out there.

Totally agree, and it will just like any site that offer casino in poker lobby client, For us who battle to tell all over the word that poker is a game of skill, it will be harder for us with this crap evolution from Amaya group to proove this when you will find a black jack icon on a poker table....

Did it bring "loads of dead money" to FTP when the changes occurred>?

Simple question.....anyone can go on Pokerscout and see for themselves how FTP's volume was affected.

Most table games have the vig built into them.

For instance, Roulette wheels have 1 or 2 "spots" that simply do not pay out, 0 and/or 00.

When the ball hits your spot you are paid out as if there were 2 fewer slots where the ball could land. It's a little bit of vig with each spin, and all that money that flows to Amayastars will never get back into the poker ecosystem.

I think it hurts the argument that poker players aren't gamblers when the sites offer sports betting and casino games in addition to poker. If online poker is going to get legalized in the current climate, it needs to be marketed as a game of skill.

This was my first reaction. Doesn't seem like a move Stars would make if it felt like it was about to move back into the US market

As are commments like the one you've made here.
They won't do it cuz they won't?? So just get rid of that idea, < LoL
You do realize that there won't be poker players with 100's of thousands of hand histories to verify/check on them (keeping them 'honest').

Do you have alot of personal experience on different sites with online casino?

I've played a bit,... across a few different sites (to clear a stupid bonus, more often to get a ticket for a poker freeroll, etc.). I've played alot of blackjack in my life, mostly 30+ yrs. ago (also a fair bit of craps ie. 1,000's of hrs.). While playing online it feels next to impossible to not second guess the software. Hence only playing it 'a bit' & only for certain easily obtained promos. I personally would find it impossible to trust it.

Have you even thought about how easily it could be manipulated? (even to the smallest degree but which could make a massive difference in the longrun while dealing with large numbers of people).

I'd also like to commend Ms. Coren on quitting her position as a Team Pro on Amayarakestars, based on her personal beliefs regarding casino gaming. wtg Vicki!!!

I believe there is negative connotations when you associate online poker with casino games.

I never gamble on online casino, but sometimes I bet on sports, so, this was good news since now it will be easier to make a sport bet once in a while.

I hope that AmayaStars at least gives us an option to block casino games and sports betting for future. I just fear that they say "for sure you can block casino games etc." and after a while they decide that "not anymore".

It's also bad for liqudity in games if people spend more money on those games that new players bring in, which I think is probable.
