After pokerstars failed in its bid to buy an Atlantic City casino, it made the decision to partner with a different one in order to get in on the upcoming online gambling market there.
Resorts Casino Hotel and The Rational Group, operator of PokerStars, announced Wednesday that they reached an agreement to provide online gambling in New Jersey.
“This is another blue chip partner for Resorts to complete a wonderful series of brands – Mohegan Sun, Margaritaville and now PokerStars,” said Resorts’ chairman.
“Resorts is a fantastic partner for us and we are looking forward to launch PokerStars in the U.S. in association with the other quality brands Resorts has brought to Atlantic City,” Mark Scheinberg, CEO of The Rational Group, said. “We are very happy to invest in New Jersey and we are excited about building a successful relationship with Resorts.”
The agreement is pending approval by New Jersey gambling regulators.
Some have wondered whether PokerStars could obtain approval in the Garden State. Last July, PokerStars agreed to settle its case with the U.S. government. It didn’t admit to any wrongdoing in connection with the Black Friday indictments.

I just hope people realize it isn't going to be like you can move to NJ and play RW players on P*.....

Unfortunately, I already see some stupidity at 2p2 where folks seem super elated as if the player pools are going to be something of great note between NJ/ and perhaps Delaware.

Unless California jumps on board with any of these....I won't be too stoked.

I mean it is CERTAINLY A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION THOUGH.

We NEED discussion amongst the larger states about how to have a common player pool though. If you can get Nv., Cal., Ill., and NJ. togethether, then you'll have something viable which could develop back into what we understood as "online poker" pre-BF.

I completely agree with this. I am a New Jersey resident and because of this I am excited, but I'm nowhere near elated. I am excited because this is a step in the right direction to bring one and - hopefully in the future - more online poker sites back to the States.

The thing is, I don't really think that the player pools will really matter if they bring PokerStars to New Jersey. Reason being is that I honestly can't see them putting a filter on their "real money" rooms to just have United States players play just US players. In THAT case - yes - the player pool would be small. TINY even. At least until they got more states to allow them to operate within them.

Can't wait to move to NJ, there is no way they will segregate player pools, I'm sure we will be able to play with everyone on the network no?

Pokerstars just will not give up. Thank God!

Looks like the Atlantic Club Casino deal that fell through for PokerStars as a step towards offering real money games to US players will not stop them!

"...we are looking forward to launch PokerStars in the U.S. in association with the other quality brands Resorts has brought to Atlantic City,” said Mark Scheinberg, CEO of The Rational Group."

See the full article here: http://pokerfuse.com/news/law-and-regulation/pokerstars-cuts-deal-with-resorts-casino-hotel-to-bring-online-poker-to-new-jersey-03-07/

Let us all hope and pray that they come back to the US. If they follow the new Ultimate Poker attempt, where you can join and play only if a resident of Nevada (for now - they claim to be trying to expand to all states where online poker is legal), you guys and gals in New Jersey might be able to lord it over us for a while if this works out. Later, they will hopefully expand as Ultimate plans on doing.

However, they will still have problems. My old home state, Kentucky, is still after pokerstars (and Fulltilt poker. Good luck with that one) . Here is an article on that: http://pokerfuse.com/news/law-and-regulation/kentucky-settles-with-bwinparty-still-pursuing-pokerstars-and-full-tilt-28-06/?utm_source=Pokerfuse+Weekly+Newsletter&utm_campaign=dda52dfabb-7_5_137_5_2013&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_192c837664-dda52dfabb-336847989

"Kentucky will continue to pursue action against internet gaming companies identified in its pending lawsuits, which include PokerStars and full tilt poker.”

Last time I was "back home", I thought they should spend more time worrying about the meth epidemic, bringing jobs and tax revenue to the State, silly stuff like that. Knowing them as I do, they will probably settle for a few million. That is the kind of "perfectly legal blackmail" crap they already pulled with other sites. This should not hinder the return at all. KY will then welcome them, like long lost sources of tax income, er, I mean friends.

It is a move in the right direction. If NJ and NV start posting big poker profits, other states will want in!

Why do you think Kentucky has a shot at PS but not FTP? They're the same company now right?

That's right, they are the same, so I mis-spoke, sorry. My thinking about full-tilt was "stand in line"...but that is inaccurate as well. They have been bought by PS, and PS will make good on their outstanding debts, right? http://articles.latimes.com/2012/jul/31/business/la-fi-mo-pokerstars-full-tilt-20120731

Good question then; if full tilt come back to US, will they be as popular as before? Or has their image in the US been shot to hell?

NOTE: When I made that original post, I did so as an original thread, failing to see someone had beat me to it. Clearly I did not use the search correctly, lol. Not sure what happened, they beat me by a few hours. So it was combined in under the correct one.

If Full Tilt poker ever comes back to the US, I for one would play on there. The whole money laundering thing from Full Tilt (I'm assuming that's why the image is "shot to hell?") came from individuals in Full Tilt only. I don't think it was a company-wide thing. I am from New Jersey, and if this whole PokerStars thing goes through with Resorts in Atlantic City, I can only imagine that Full Tilt will soon follow...being that PokerStars and Full Tilt are essentially the same company.

As far as Full Tilt ever being as popular as they were before...I would say that they won't be...at least not for a good amount of time after they come back. Some people will be annoyed with FTP and because of that annoyance they will not play there. But, time may heal FTP's wounds in the US.....this is all assuming they ever come back of course...

Im real excited for these sites to get up running.. Just about all the atlantic city casinos have agreements now:

• Trump Taj Mahal – Ultimate Poker
• Trump Plaza – betfair
• Tropicana – Gamesys
• Borgata (Boyd Gaming) – bwin.party
• Golden Nugget – Bally Technologies
• Caesars (Caesars Entertainment) – 888 Holdings
• Bally’s (Caesars Entertainment) – 888 Holdings
• Harrah’s (Caesars Entertainment) – 888 Holdings
• Showboat (Caesars Entertainment) 888 Holdings

Once these get up and going it will be interesting to see who has the best software, promotions, and possibly comps.. Regardless of player pool im excited for this! Easy deposit, easy cashout!
