tbdbitl, we have had tons of poker here in central Ohio for over 5 years. Not the charity games but actual clubs. Most of them charge a cover charge of $25 per day and that is it. No rake. Can't beat that. They don't touch the pots.

Those rooms are borderline illegal.

Not so sure there is much of a border there. LOL
But they are also busy and open and offer a better value than a casino (most of them anyways.).

Yeah you usually don't where the line is drawn until the room is stormed by a team in all black, ski masks too, with weapons pointing at you!

And would that be the DoJ, or just a bunch of thugs looking to take down the game? Or.....isn't that really the same thing????? More important question is why haven't these cardrooms made it to NE Ohio so we can all play???

Rudy, they have been open 5 years now in Columbus. They had a Gemini in Berea but the powers behind Nautica (Jacobs!) got it shut down.

Gemini is holding a $100,000 guaranteed tournament May 18th. They have 6 tournaments prior to that with a total of $65,000 in guarantees. geminiplayersclub.com

Thanks for the tip. Don't think I can make this one, but I'll check their site and maybe make something in the future...... Still sucks that there is nothing in NE Ohio, but the Cleveland casino is supposed to open soon so we'll see how that goes.

Do you think the casino's coming to Columbus/Cincinnatti will have any effect on these clubs? I mean I could easily see the powers-that-be behind the casinos wanting to shut-down the competition.
