Poker Going Back to What it was Before Black Friday?

I listened to a very interesting interview on WJR 760 AM Detroit News Talk Radio this afternoon. There was a politician on talking about the Bill to repeal the Internet Privacy rules via FCC.
It is my understanding that if this happens, the internet will no longer have to abide by the laws regarding placing wagers via telephone, which basically caused Black Friday to happen. First thing's first I guess, I'm not American, nor am I a lawyer or anything.

But if you're talking about the rollback of net neutrality... it's the first time I've heard anyone put that interpretation on it. But even if it does, I'd want to be thinking long and hard about whether I'd be willing to give up net neutrality just to get online poker back.

It doesn't matter what "caused" black Friday to happen, the real problem has nothing to do with the FCC it has to do with money transfer....

The Unlawful Internet gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA) is United States legislation regulating online gambling. It was added as Title VIII to the SAFE Port Act (found at 31 U.S.C. §§ 5361–5367) which otherwise regulated port security. The UIGEA "prohibits gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with the participation of another person in a bet or wager that involves the use of the Internet and that is unlawful under any federal or state law."[1] The act specifically excludes fantasy sports that meet certain requirements, skill-games and legal intrastate and intertribal gaming. The law does not expressly mention state lotteries, nor does it clarify whether inter-state wagering on horse racing is legal.

My immediate reaction was like karl, black friday was about wire transfer not internet privacy.

I don't understand your thinking 'that if this happens, the internet will no longer have to abide by the laws regarding placing wagers via telephone' or other wires (probably including air waves) such as the internet.

Just a thought that perhaps a lawyer could clarify,
Would a genuine satellite phone connection to say a mexican ISP provide a legal loophole?
(Any chance there is a kickstarter business in there)?
