Whats your take on edge sorting, if the casino agrees to his requests is that really cheating? This guy is so talented, he's got to be the best.

It really sucks he lost the suit but honestly what are you gonna do, if the casino doesn’t pay you’re just SOL

What are you suppose to do walk into a casino with negative EV statistical scams and just lose your money guaranteed??

I'm glad he scammed the casino although the deal is casinos generate a lot of taxes for the state so i can understand why he lost his cases. In short casino games are just waste of money.

Playing baccarat is very fun, well for Phil, he is a great player. Possibly one of the few gamblers in the world of poker who do not show a single emotion when playing a couple of cards.

I saw a short video where he was talking about that some time ago and I was really excited about this case, To be honest, I think advantage play should not be prohibited. I know that in reality this will never work, because casinos could start loosing money and they will never allow that.

However, I was really saddened to hear that he lost the suit. The casino allowed him to have all those his requested things, like cards etc. So why are they complaining now? They shouldnt let him do that and it would be fine.

Its sad to hear such a big name as Ivey get discredited by this stupid case...

For you guys with short memories Lederere Fergoson and Ivey wrecked FTP and were probably responsible for the Yanks being ineligible for online poker.Study poker history around that time and learn.
His $20 million "loss" is called karma.

I'm sorry but I disagree, it wasn't Phil Ivey and yes I have already read everything about ftp! It all started with Phil hellmuths poker site first UB.

I didn't read anything about Ivey but I have attached this
On September 20, 2011, the DOJ accused certain Full Tilt principals of defrauding poker players out of more than $300 million. The U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York filed a motion to amend an earlier civil complaint to allege that company directors Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer,*Rafe Furst, and Ray Bitar operated what the DOJ claims was a*Ponzi scheme*that allowed the company to pay out $444 million to themselves and other owners, which included other famous poker players.[28][29]*A lawyer for Ferguson has denied the allegations, suggesting that the issues may have been the result of mismanagement rather than malice.[30][31]*Bitar surrendered to authorities on July 2, 2012, to deal with the civil and criminal case that is pending against him in New York .[32]*On April 15, 2013, Bitar reached a deal with prosecutors to plead guilt to criminal charges, and was sentenced to time served and ordered to surrender his assets, rumored to include various homes and $40 million in cash.[33]

For me this is complete BS.

Ivy stated it perfectly "..exploiting weakness.." its also the business' right to not allow certain players. But that is not the issue, the issue is that the casino agreed and wanted him to play, everyone agreed.

I don't understand how the casino didn't have a red flag go up when he requested specific deck and shuffle machine. They did not do their due diligence. And if it was a flaw in the cards they were oblivious of, tough shit. He did not manufacture the cards. All the casino saw was whale, and when the whale took the money they cried foul. You know damn well if it was really illegal he would have been arrested. Even after losing the lawsuit.

I agree, they agreed to it and I think he should have been paid it's a joke

Soooooo... this case is years old and there's threads on it going back years here too. That 60 Minutes video is from a little while back too, I'm pretty sure he's since lost the cases and the appeals on both cases.

My personal opinion is the Borgata were just plain incompetent - they let him play using this method for months using this strategy, and they paid him at the end. Massive failure on the part of their game security team.

My personal opinion is that Crockfords freerolled Ivey. I suspect they were onto him from the start, and they let him play intending not to pay him if he won (but planning to keep his money if he lost - which remember, is still a very real possibility using this method).

As to whether he "cheated" or not, that's down to personal opinion on how you define cheating or how you feel about advantage play. My personal opinion is he should've been paid in both cases because the casino shouldn't be allowed to have it both ways: they either allow his requests and live with the consequences, or they don't allow his requests and pass on the chance of winning his money. But apparently the legal system doesn't agree with my opinion :p

Truly one of the greats in my opinion, so sad to see this happen to him when he wasn't cheating. It didn't surprise me too much that the casino won the lawsuit, let's hope it didn't affect him too much!

He must be gutted, wonder what he's thinking now. How can he get paid if they just say that he's a cheat. Probably ruin his reputation. Shocking

As far as I know, Phil was banned in a Vegas casino, is it true? It was forbidden that cica won too much and was suspected to have defeated the play. How true and how much lie?
