I'll be following this one. What was the threshold that if you pass they have to write an answer?

Started a petition to allow pokerstars and fulltilt back in U.S. market. Please visit this link and sign and sign it https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/pe...and-fulltiltpoker-serve-us-customers/zRtP6Kt3 thanks everyone

This is moot. They aren't precluded by Federal law from operating in the US.

There isn't anything that can be done at the Administration level that would allow Pokerstars/Full Tilt to operate in the US. They have to be authorized by individual states to operate in those states. Even with federal legislation, again out of the hands of the White House, states would still have to authorize play in within their states.

Good idea, but I don't think it is going to change anything. Too much signatures needed, good luck though.

I don't think the way it was worded will be conducive to effecting any kind of change from the white house's perspective. All that was written about was Frequent Player Points which white house officials probably dont' know anything about.

I think a petition like this is good but more along the lines of asking the federal government to explicitly allow online poker in all states of the United States with the argument being that poker is a game of skill. When it comes down to it, federal law trumps state law and so if a bill were to be introduced explicitly allowing online poker in the United States (i.e. a bill that states something like: "no state shall infringe upon the right of citizens to play online poker, being that online poker is a game of skill"), then every state would have no choice but to allow citizens to play.

I don't think this will ever happen though because as much as we poker players feel that online poker is a right, most people would probably just consider it a privilege.

But I think we should get a petition going that could possibly address Adelson's initiative in congress to get online poker banned at the federal level. Would it help the situation? I don't know. But it couldn't hurt....

Wow really wonder who this poster is, I mean its their first post or so and its HUGE poker news.

Figure the owner or someone who makes money on pokerstars.

Not sure I f I see this happening, I mean they ripped people off right? Has there ever been a business in the US that has ripped x amount of people but made a comeback? Its getting their. GL

I myself got into poker right after pokerstars was gone. All the poker buddys have used it and miss it but always a question with me.

I hope I don't see a task on microworkers lol :)

Just an update, it says there is only 1 signature so far. Is this updated frequently or is the creator of this thread possibly the only signature if at all? I see, has to be a US Citizen to vote here, which pokerstars is mainly filled with people from other countries than the US.

Is there any type of World vote, instead of just the US. that's what you need :)

Petitioning the WH for much of anything is useless, as long as an obstructionist House of Representatives is in the way, and votes no on many things, just because they can.

Yeah those terrible House Republicans like King and Barton, the only Congressmen to advance the issue of internet poker. I challenge you to name a single Democrat in Congress who has lifted finger one towards #ipoker legislation.

...Just an update, it says there is only 1 signature so far....

There are many businesses that have repeatedly ripped people off and are doing just fine. Just thing of all the banks that intentionally created the mortgage crisis of 2008: while one or two did fall the majority of the major players in that SCAM are still operating in full force making billions of dollars with the power to demand bailouts as they please from a powerless executive branch which doesn't want to see the economy dwindle into nothingbecause the bankers did not get what they wanted (because the banks, as a syndicate, have the power to boom and bust economies)...

But I am not surprised that no one has signed this petition. the way it is worded I could not put my name to it officially. This is not to impugn the original poster as I believe his intentions were good but I don't believe focussing in on FPP points is the way to go here.....the fact that no one else has signed it seems to suggest that I am not the only one who holds that opinion...

Don't think this is the best way to go about doing it, unfortunately. This is just an issue that's probably gonna work itself out real slow

You know, the US gov. could make a literal killing if the just legalized and taxed online poker. That along with legalizing weed would make the US a very rich country.

I have read through a lot of these with interest as to the same thing and I have seen some responses whereby the US Gov. answers with such things as "we are working on this" or "here is what we plan to do". So, from what I have read through, the more popular and worthwhile causes get the most attention and it seems usually get resolved one way or another.

I still find it very funny that everyone is still pushing for sites like PokerStars to be able to reenter the US. I don't see it happening in the near future at all. Too bad... I thought US was the 'Land of the Free'? Thank God I live in canada, there is no benefit to living in the US that I can see... what is keeping you all there?

Not sure how this is huge news, its not news. But anyway, Pokerstars didn't rip anyone off. They paid every American player their balance immediately after Black Friday, and paid the DOJs 'fines'. Full Tilt on the other hand, handled their money poorly. Pokerstars bailed them out, paid all the players, and FTPs DOJ 'fines'.

tl;dr

Pokerstars did the exact opposite of ripping people off.

* Oh yea, I didnt even look at the petition as it is useless and peoples description makes it sound worse for poker than anything else.

As history would dictate, this is unfortunately a waste of time. While Obama promised to answer any petitions that hit the required threshold, when the top petitions signed were by marijuana and Poker enthusiasts, absolutely nothing has been pushed forward in these regards. And the Gov't has certainly not said, hey we got so many people that want poker and marijuana legalized let's do it. Democracy my ass. Lets get a real vote out on marijuana and Poker in the entire US/
