As expected, Pennsylvania’s top official has signed the state’s online poker bill.

On Monday, Gov. Tom Wolf put his signature on a massive gambling expansion package that passed both the House and Senate last week. Included in the legislation is the legalization and regulation of online casino games, including peer-to-peer poker.

Pennsylvania’s roughly $60 million-a-year live poker market will get a boost from the legislation, thanks to the upcoming launch of online poker rooms and possibly more live poker.

They will find one. My guess is The Rivers will jump in bed with them pretty quick. If they offer to pay the fee and give Nemacolin a cut ... I would bet Nemacolin would fall all over themselves for the chance.

So Pokerstars has to have a casino before they can position themselves to be online? Why is that?

PokerStars Wants in on Pennsylvania Online Poker, But First They Need a Partner

Yeah stars doesnt have a casino in Pennsylvania so they dont have access to the online market without a partner

I believe the terms of the bill are that PA casinos get first crack at the licenses (and there's enough to allow every PA casino that currently exists to get one) for something like 3 months and then IF there's left over licenses other entities can apply for them. So Pokerstars could seek a partner in a casino if they want to get a jump on competition and get in right away or could just wait for the exclusivity period to end and apply. But I imagine other sites like 888 are already preparing to do the same so depends how quick they want to get in the market.

Interesting timing...

... because today, New Jersey governor Chris (roly-poly) Christie is going before the Supreme Court to argue in favor of his state being allowed to offer sports wagering. It's actually a really big deal, because it is states rights vs fed rights (and in this case, preemption vs prevention).

The result, expected in the spring, will have far-reaching implications (hello, legal marijuana!).

I can't stand the guy, but I hope he's successful in his arguments. With the court currently right-leaning, I have my doubts.

That depends on Net Neutrality. If it goes through, (which it probably will.) it could effect it.

Another state? If several states allow online poker, why did not I see the Americans at PS tables?

Maybe I should move back to PA. The winters are too long. Snow at the end of March is unbearable.
