Great news !!!:) Wherever poker is legalised , it's a step in the right direction :)
35% percent tax rate on poker that was suggested by some is a crazy proposition . 15% is much better ofcourse . But still less would be better (imo) not just in West Virginia or other US states , but everywhere , for the good of the game and for more profits , both for players and states :) . We don't want to discourage poker players , cause then , imo , less people will play and profits from taxes will not be as high :)

That's great news! There's not a whole lot to do in west Virginia! At least they can play poker 24hrs now. To put an end to boredom and depression! Nothing like a Great poker game to get the competitive juices flowing! Lol

So online poker is picking up

Wondering how this is all supposed to work first I think I'm seeing that the "Rooms" have to be in the state. Assuming that means that all the old favorites like Paradise and the regulars like Stars and Party cannot operate in these locations I'm not seeing how it is supposed to work
'
no single state can provide enough rev for a room to operate from within state lines, can it?

I think a single state could operate within their own state's pool but the revenue numbers would likely be pretty low. There are a few states that have pooled together but not sure how well it's really working...yet.

It would be nice if they can get wsop.com. With all the online bracelet events they're starting to have, I would definitely drive over there to play in a WSOP online event.

That sounds pretty good but they might not have a big player pool if it's just West Virginia on its own unless maybe they join up with New Jersey and I think Delaware and Las Vegas other places there are it's legal and then they would have more players

Tax or Rake

Concerning Rake by casinos, I've found it funny that certain places would have the regular cost say a $100 +25 tournament which to me would mean the $100 is for the prize pool. But I've noticed that some locations would also have a 3.5 to 5% tournament fee removed from the prize money for Tournament Staff. To me, this is unacceptable since they also expect you to provide a "Tip" from your winnings for staff. Now looking at different locations across the country I will always avoid the places that take extra extra regardless of anything else. Kind of like the 7pm WSOPC event is $100+$35 and some +$50 while the same event within a few miles will be $100 +$25 depending on the location of course. And I really don't care for the way they badger you for a "Tip" I never once got a TIP for doing my job.

So is the Taxes being imposed on newer online usage added in ahead of time or removed from withdrawals

As an Ohioan I look forward to the entire USA fully legalizing online poker. Hopefully one day it will happen.:)
