I understand what happened to online poker within America but I am confused to what the current status of online poker is in America?
Are certain states allowed to play on certain sites, will American players ever be mixed with EU players again on poker stars?

I know New Jersey and Nevada have or had legal online gambling, but not positive if it's online poker, I remember reading something about NJ allowing pokerstars or fulltilt to have one but it wasn't for poker but for betting, and NV I think it went belly up because it didn't have enough people playing, but not 100% sure about it going belly up , I remember reading about someone wanting to play in an online mtt when they went to Las Vegas because they didn't live in NV so they wanted to play when they got there, and I know some sites don't allow people from some states to play on there site because of the state they live in,but this is all stuff I read awhile back, haven't heard much about it lately.

It breaks down like this:

In the State of Delaware, there are state lottery sites on which you can play online poker, using the 888 platform. You only play with players within DE and NV. They also have casino games for players in DE only.

In the State of Nevada, you can play online poker (only). The 888 powered site(s) there share players with DE. The other site (Real Gaming) does not share players.

In New Jersey, you can play online poker on 888 and party poker platforms, and in early 2016, a Pokerstars platform. NJ sites are NJ players only. NJ also has casino games for players within the State of New Jersey.

No other states currently have regulated online gaming. Some are considering it (CA, PA, WA, NY, etc) but all are a long way off.

Unregulated sites (Bovada, ACR, BCP, Carbon, etc) still serve most states in the US. The legality of that service is subject to debate.

What is that? Sounds absurdly.. How can it be? How they did it??... I don`t understand maybe...hm..Absolutely uncleared for me how it can goes when there is available only one casino in state.. It`s a delirium..=|

Democracy doesn't mean that anything goes. There happens to be a segment of the population here in the U.S. who believes that any form of gaming is wrong, they happen to have won the online poker issue, at least for the time being. I happen to disagree with these people, and continue to voice my opinion with my elected representative. That's how democracy works.

Cheers!

Exactly right. Also, democracy requires participation. Government 'by the people' means just that . . . people have to get up off their lazy asses and participate in the process. One can't just sit back and expect what they want to happen will simply because they want it to.

Participate. Call your state representatives and tell them what you want. If you haven't done that tiny little thing, you have nothing to complain about.

(apologies if my cynicism is bubbling to the surface lol)

Any form of gaming except, on-line Fantasy Football and on-line Horse Racing. Cause poker is immoral, except if you play it live. Gods cool with that cause it helps Indians.

Well now even fantasy football is under attack in some states. I live in CA where it will be a long time before online poker issues get settled (conflicts between Indian gaming and card room/race track owners. IMO I would guess all states will eventually approve it and regulate it for a % of the rake...would be the business-minded thing to do.

Withdrawal is the main problem when its come to the poker sites. If the withdrawal process is instant like Pokerstar or FT,i dont see why customer from the ROW wont be playing on the sites.

In states where it isn't explicitly illegal, you can play on unregulated sites. But there are laws that prevent banks from letting you deposit or withdraw. The unregulated sites do some legally questionable voodoo to let people cash out and deposit. This is actually what got full tilt and pokerstars in trouble back in 2011. It wasn't that they were running a poker site, it was they were purposely mislabeling banking transactions to mislead banks.

That's the problem democracy doesn't work; especially in a large country with different viewpoints. The minority voice gets shut up in a democracy and there aren't enough representatives for the large amount of people in the United States. After you get done voting for a certain candidate to represent your area where you live, that elected official only has to appeal to certain percent of the population of that area in order to assure that they can get elected again. If a large enough percentage doesn't voice their opinion on something such as online poker, politicians are mostly like not going to care or simply ignore it.

I believe like that the majority of americans simply don't care either way whether or not online poker is completely legal or not. The biggest voice against online poker that made it harder to play online is the land based casinos who didn't want online poker to take away profit from their businesses. Voicing your opinion in all honesty is probably not worth it especially in a state with casinos because most likely those politicians especially ones that have been around for awhile are bought and payed for by the casinos. I wouldn't say it's pointless though, but you need thousands and thousands of people to voice their opinion before politicians even start looking at the issue.

New Jersey and Nevada still have restrictions, but there are plenty of American-friendly sites now.

Just what makes that little old ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can't
Move a rubber tree plant

But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your gettin' low
'Stead of lettin' go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

Here in Nevada we currently have only 4 options that are worth your time.

wsop is totally legal and shares player a player base with Delaware or New Jersey, not sure which.

Bet On Line, Bovada, & America's Cardroom I play at on occasion but not legal. Im pretty sure anybody in the US can play at these though.

PokerStars is trying to come to the state of New Jersey, but if they are allowed those players will only be able to play players who are also playing in New Jersey. They won't be able to play against people from around the world. They'll have a segregated player pool like some countries in Europe have. I believe france is one of those countries where they have a segregated player pool.
