Just read this Cardschat article: https://www.cardschat.com/news/alex-dreyfus-says-huds-have-no-place-on-twitch-15123

I completely agree with Dreyfus' and Somerville's reasons for why streamers shouldn't use HUDs. It completely would be intimidating for new players.

With that said, streamers are already giving up a lot of their edge. For one, they're usually single tabling when they could be playing 4, 8, 12, 20+ tables off stream. Additionally, they're giving away all their hands and all their strategies, and on only a 5-8 minute delay, that information really matters, both in the game at hand and in general for future games. Not to mention they're going through the trouble of talking out every single hand, possibly detracting them from the game too as they respond to comments and tweets.

The counterargument though that because the players are only single tabling that HUDs are not terribly helpful is a good one though. Alternatively, pokerstars or the streamers' respective sponsors could pay a little extra to have the players not use HUDs.

Personally I don't find the HUD's distracting on twitch, I think HUD's should be banned entirely for other reasons.

Huds are essential if you view online poker as a business. I don't know what is fair or unfair when it comes to making money, if they allow it, it should be okay to use. If not, I guess that is fine too.

think banning huds would only hurt the honest players, the cheaters would find a way to have a hud

As far as HUDs go, I think Pandora's box has been opened. I don't feel that there's any closing that box now. (who knows, I could be dead wrong on that).

As for those players giving up their edge? Have you seen Jason Somerville's results in the WCOOP? I don't feel that these players that Twitch are really giving away their edge because they're constantly changing gears. So, when you think you have them figured out, they've gone on to a different strategy. That's why those guys/gals are professionals.

Constantly adjusting is what keeps them a step ahead. This applies to non-streamers too that crush online. It sure is a controversial topic that seems to be picking up steam recently.

I disagree that hud's should be banned. Simply having a hud provides no advantage. You have to actually know how to apply the info that the hud gives you. Most don't. Also it's not like hud's aren't available to everyone.

While I'm not the biggest fan of HUDs, if I had to choose between a site that allows them and a site like Bovada that completely eliminates player traceability the choice is obvious, allow HUDs. I disagree that it is too late for the sites to disallow them; clearly they could. When it comes to Twitch (which I watch constantly and am fully aware of its ability to draw new players to the game) I understand that the HUD element is intimidating to new players. However, it's a bit like seeing the gamers that have fancy gaming chairs and headsets, "I do not have these, I must have these!!" If my greed played a bigger part in my opinion I would want to deprive new players of useful resources but we don't want the noobies to feel cheated and lose interest. I say encourage new players to use HUDs:icon_sant .

I know one twitch user use HUD, but I don't find it distracting. The information it provide is pretty cool and I don't it as an advantage either. It just provide a automatic way of doing math.

You'll note that full tilt poker, Unibet Poker, partypoker and PokerStars are all moving to reduce the use of, and in one case eliminate HUD's. It is already happening. You are right about one thing, it is just business. poker sites have come to believe add-on software helps to drive away the recreational player, which is bad for business.

Cheers!

People should be allowed to stream however they like, it's not like your paying to watch it. If people like that want to complain about them then they should start their own streams to cater to those that dont like watching video's with HUD's.

oh well skybet poker , unibet , partypoker all have banned huds now .. no more huds.. the mpn network has made it new way to counter huds now that u can change ur user id every 30 days or after playing 1k cash hands..so that huds cant keep any data on any particular user id as constant changing of id will make impossible to know who is who..

so yes slowing all will ban huds
