It is not news that on May 1st, three states will have interstate player pool sharing ahead of the wsop events. What's not well-known is that the use of HUDs will be strictly prohibited.
Per the WSOP website on HUD usage since Nevada strictly prohibits the usage of HUDs and other States have no policy to this regard, it was deemed unfair to allow them in one State and not the other. Therefore, to level the playing field, all HUDs will be prohibited.
Furthermore, you will not be able to download hand histories with the new client software. All hand histories have to be requested via Customer Service. Reviewing hands via Replay will still be available though.
IMO, this is a good thing for two reasons. First, not all people online use HUDs. I am in that camp because I can't afford one right now. I can safely say that there is a large majority of online players that either are not aware of them, can't afford them, or if they have one, don't know how to use them effectively.
Second, making it harder to get hand histories is a good thing. I will put this in the "what is good for a bot, is bad for us humans" category. With huge leaps in AI technology, access to huge amounts of data in this day and age is downright scary. Bots can be built to analyze every play you make, crunch the numbers, and outplay you every step of the way. The more data they collect on individuals, the smarter they get.
So, what say you all? There is a poll attached to this thread -- so if you can explain the reasoning for your vote it would be appreciated.
