the freshly plugged DNegs threw a fit and quit the tourney when his hand was folded because he wasnt in his seat

http://www.pokernews.com/live-repor...com-ept-barcelona/high-roller/chips.71157.htm

@RealKidPoker: I was 100% aware of the rule and did NOT break the rule. It was ruled 100% incorrectly by the TD because the rule is absurdly stupid.

@RealKidPoker: I put my small blind in and was standing next to my chair. Dealer kills my hand immediately. So I just literally quit the tourney lol

Technicallly, he was in the wrong, but if he was standing right there, behind his chair, the dealer could have just asked if he was in the hand, as a courtesy. Hell, they do that for players at my local casino, and we're just a bunch of goobs playing $1/$2 no-limit. :p

"A player must be at his seat when the first card is dealt on the initial deal or he will have a dead hand. A player not then at his seat is dealt in, he may not look at his cards, and the hand is immediately killed after the initial deal. His blinds and antes are posted and if dealt the bring-in card in a stud-type game he will post the bring-in*. A player must be at his seat to call time. “At your seat” means within reach of your chair. This rule is not intended to condone players being out of their seats while involved in a hand. [*Note: In stud, house rules may require additional card(s) be dealt to the killed hand in certain situations.]"

What I got from the article was that this is the rule in question. Sounds like a bad ruling to me. Maybe this isn't the exact wording for that particular tournament but if it was he got screwed by a bad ruling and good for him for standing up for what he thinks is right. Yeah it's 10k down the drain but it will definitely help get rules like these, that a lot of players have issues with, reevaluated.

Oh, I skipped over the part "...in reach of your chair." Then yeah, definitely a bs call if he was a "step away from his chair" like he said. Wow.

Sounds like the enforcers were too bureaucratic.

That said, interesting to see that even a top player like that can go on tilt and blow his whole stack on the next hand :)

He didn't "quit". He shoved all in the next hand and lost.

I still do that sometimes after a bad hand. I feel slightly less stupid now. :)

Shoves all in with A3 and gets called by 77 on the second hand
Anyone would think it was a freeroll. It would be interesting to see how things would progress if he had won the hand though :p

I like Daniel Negreanu, so hopefully next time he will be in his chair 0.o

The ruling isn't really "stupid" it keeps the game going and doesn't slow it down without the rule the game would slow way down, dealers constantly asking "is he coming back" or players arguing " I was coming back"

I can see why a hand must me mucked right away also it would be unfair for some one to raise thinking a player isn't in his/her seat and next thing you know he/her comes back "reraise"...

However I think this was ruled incorrectly going just off the story I wasn't able to see with my own eyes how close "I was right there" is so it be impossible to say with 100% certainty..

Next time you want to talk to another player at another table... just bring the chair with you!

Also.. to throw way your entire stack for losing your SB is ridiculous.

It's not like he had AA vs KK...

all he did was hurt his chances at getting player of the year and kill his chances on winning the tournament...
Even the best must have the ability to pick their battles,

on the upside he will have some new materials for "rant of the week"

Oh DNegs, what crazy antics. If he was "within reach" of his seat that he got a bad ruling but man just shoving blind??

Well that kid spends a million dollars a year on tournament entries. In addition, he is one the biggest, if not the biggest, ambassodors the game has. I wish there was a video available of the incident. Without one it's hard for me to form a strong opinion as to whether I think Negreanu was right or wrong in this situation. From the wording of the rule and the description of the event, I tend to think that Daniel was in the right. However, I think there was more to it than just this one incedent.

From what I understand, Daniel Negreanu has had an issue with this rule and the fact that it was implemented without any input from the players since it's inception. With this being something that he's been vocal about in the past, I think this particular incident might have just been the straw. I'm not sure blowing 10k in euros is the way I would have responded. But you know what dead homie, they might actually feel a little bit stupid. After something like this, I'm sure you don't want people looking back at this and finding that Daniel was, in fact, within the rules and that the tournament director made the wrong ruling. Certainly, this is not the way you want to have Daniel Negreanu exit your tournament.

As I said, he is one of the biggest ambassadors for the game. I don't think there is a single other player that goes out of their way to pose for picture and sign autographs for fans the way Negreanu does. This is not only good for the game but for the hotels and casinos as well, as it brings in bodies who are likely to spend money while they are there. How do you think they are going to feel when Daniel points to this ruling as the reason he no longer takes time out to pose with fans between hands because he's afraid his hand will be ruled dead if he makes it back to the table two seconds after the first card is dealt.

How long can he realistically keep calling himself "kid poker"?

Was a bad ruling in my opinion. Can't believe he just blind shoved and quit the tournament though.

Especially with all the real kids playing these days. Maybe be still goes by that name because his mom still packs his lunches for the day like summer camp. :eating:

Barcelona.TURNIR EPT High Roller. Negreanu freaked out at the beginning of the tourna

As usual, the main newsmaker of the day was Daniel Negreanu. At the beginning of the tournament his cards in the small blind were thrown a pass in the absence of the player, although Kid Poker, as he claimed, was standing right behind the chair and talked with Philip Gruissemom. However, to prove his case he failed and the next hand defiantly went all-in blind. Its called by the Group of Seven, and A-3 Canadian did not stand, he was eliminated. Then, have calmed down a little, Daniel did re-entropy and finished the day with about starting stack.
