Yes - it is totally fair. The rest of us don't get to play and it is a violation of their rules.

Not to mention it does nothing to help PS trying to return to the US state by state when it is discovered that US players are playing there despite their commitment to not allow them. They have to send a message out to everyone.

I agree, in fact since black friday the partition of online poker between americans and non americans significantly effects player volumes and tournament sizes. What ever can be done to allow all poker players around the world to play on the same sites has to be done.

In fact Mizzi has been flouting rules for years

" In 2007, he was banned for life from full tilt poker for taking over another player’s account late in a $1 million guaranteed tournament. FTP found out about it, exiled him, and shipped the prize money that was in his account back to the other player’s."

But Mizzi only received a 2 year ban for this latest transgression involving VPNs.

A better question would be:

Should Mizzi only be banned from stars for 2 years or life?

I only know the details from the News section on here but it seems to me that stupidity is what caught Mizzi. He must have been noticed on the site by someone who knew he was in the US at that moment in time.

I'm sure he's not the only person who does it or has done it. There are enough sites promoting ways to watch TV in one region when actually in another. In the UK it's mainly so that we can get our fix of Breaking Bad and the like.

You could do it via your home equipment. Though if you can't work out how don't look to me for a technical walk-through.

As for the ban? It's a rule and it has been broken and so the consequences must be applied. Otherwise why bother creating the rule in the first place.

Though just how effective will the ban be? If it's just PS then that's only one operator, a main player it's true.

By the way, I agree with the ban. He knew what the consequences would be.

Yes it is fair to ban him. It is also in their operational license requirements to punish people that try to gain unlawful access to their platform. Sorel knew what he was doing and also knew the possible consequences. Do your time Mr. Mizzi.

I think it is defo fair to ban him,, since none of us can play at pokerstars right now eithert... ESP ecially since he could play legally from his home country of canada, as sooon as he got back home,,,,,,, i have heard that pstars lets some other big pros do this also,, tho wehn they happen to be on the states,,, idk if thats true or not tho,,,,, since i saw people wonder if negreanu was doing this also,,, since he is orig from cananda,,, but resides in las vegas,,, and is still a pokerstars pro i think,,,,,, but idk for sure, so dont quote me lol

It's fair to ban him but it sucks that someone is getting banned for living in the states. I wonder how many poker pros are using VPN's to play on pokerstars. I thought about it but it's not worth it, specially when you can play ACR.
