You need to move if you can earn more. I think pokerstars will not be poorer.

Is Twitch really that much of a thing these days? I'm clearly missing something. Will have to take a closer look at it sometime.

I am just starting to watch Twitch but not sure about it. Jason seems like a smart enough guy and if he thinks the profit/lifestyle is +EV then i would not second guess his decision.

Hi, it seems that pokerstars doesn´t want to have poker players in its Team Pro but UFC fighters or comedians. What a pity!

Little by little, the site is redirecting your efforts to sports betting. Now only 5 loyal players remains: Chris Moneymaker, Ben Spragg, Fintan Hand, Felix Schneiders and Lex Veldhuis.

The last one who leaves the room turns off the light.

Looks like they are trying to reduce pay roll over the years versus what those players bring in. As an American I don’t see much about Pokerstars so I am out of the info loop (so I can easily be wrong) but it seems that they are not too focused on promoting pro poker and are trying to reach the amateur and those players the amateur player will watch or root for. Many of the reductions have a poker following and fan base but away from poker the “average joe” likely not know who some of these people are.

I am clueless (still) as to what poker stars are up to with their sponsored pros.

At EPT Prague a female PokerStars ' streamer' showed up, Georgina James, and was giving a little color 'commentary'. She was then 'awarded' a platinum entry package to Barcelona (worth thirty thousand dollars)???.

They noted she was Twitch streamer, so I presumed she must be a big deal that I had yet to hear about. So I checked her stream and then found out she has a handful of streams up and is watched by literally 100 people.

I just checked her site again and noted she has now got one clip viewed by a lot of people (presumably after the PS boost she has been given) but prior to that she appears to be a low profile gamer streaming out of her bedroom with somewhat limited poker experience (someone please correct me if I have got this all wrong).

So from my perspective it just looks like PokerStars are picking random people that they are going to attempt to promote or simply hope the streamers chosen will be charismatic enough to draw a crowd. It appears half hearted at best.

Whether it PS, GG or even party poker there seems to be this drive to attract people semi or vaguely interested in poker to their sites for occasional visits. I do not get the strategy (other than a short term boost). There are literally poker 'play money' sites out there with 1 million plus members. They would be the types I would want to target rather than random members of the public watching random streams.

Presumably it costs them little to nothing in terms of sponsorship deals compared to the notables sponsored yesteryear (and the 30K Platinum Pass is theirs to do with what they want). However, I never believed the likes of Liv Boeree and Igor Kurganov were ever drawing people to the site anyways...so why not just put such promotional budgets towards better use?

As for Jason Somerville, he is a smart and likeable guy and one which I would have gone out of my way to keep at PS. In fact Jason's growing interest in the NFL and sports betting would have seemed a natural fit.

On the contrary. Their offers and promotions have declined more and more in recent years.
