He must be "skint". There is no other reason that would make him sell it.

No possibility he just doesn't care about the trophy?

That's possible but I doubt it.

One time I played billiards in a league and we had a tournement of champions at the end of the season. The prize was $700 and a trophy that stood 30" tall with a little man at a pool table on top of it. My friend Buck (RIP man) won the T.O.C. We were standing beside each other when they brought out the trophy and the cash. I said to Buck, "Wow, that's a nice trophy!" He didn't even look at it for a second and said, "Here, you want it?" Then he held his hand out for the money.

I don't think that he is selling for the money, he doesn't seems to be a guy stupid enough (even though I don't like him) to lose millions, at least not in poker.

When those donkament binkers swim with the real sharks in those dank, dusky cardrooms in LA and LV.....or on the net....

Well, things usually don't go as well as they envisioned.

We(regs)always salivated watching those guppies come in Saturday morning to play the weekly vigament.

Think again, he lost millions playing in LA mostly...

They built games around him for awhile at the Commerce.

Pretty much my thinking around him selling it. His skill won't let him play competitively on a level where his money will. I dunno how he managed to delude himself into thinking he belongs at those games.

But he's the world's greatest bluffer, he says so himself! He can talk people into anything!

I don't find this news surprising.

This is a just a shame. He basically has no care for something that so many others would kill for. Regardless of the money winning that kind of a bracelet if something you can keep for life and show off. But now he wants to sell it and who knows how much it will go for. Shame Shame

Rick Harrison on Pawn Stars will buy it from him. He probably would only offer him about half of what it is worth because, you know, the market is down and he has overhead.....

Businessmen!

Not to mention the guy is in business to make money, not simply to trade things from one person to another! Shame on him! :-o

Yeah - I know if I had $6 million like he did I'd take much better care of it... oh... you were talking about the bracelet :p

Reality is some people just don't care as much about the bracelet or the game or what it means as other people do. Jamie Gold has never struck me as someone who's especially passionate about poker, someone who plays purely for the love of the game or anything. Poker is just something he thought he could make money at. As such, the bracelet probably doesn't mean a huge amount to him. I mean even after it's sold, he'll still be able to tell people he crushed the biggest field in Main Event history. There's ESPN tapes that prove it.

After seeing him play on HSP it wouldn't surprise me.

lol, after hearing this I started rewatching some of Season 3 on youtube. Poor guy was in every hand, made it an interesting game though.

Hahahaha, Jaime Gold is a tool. I am not surprised at all that he is selling his bracelet. He's an average player who got really lucky once.

So Helmuth probably doesn't need to play poker,
he can make a living just from selling some of his bracelets.
