He's definitely right. More unskilled players means I make more and better players mean I learn faster. There is just no downside to more people playing at our tables. Don't push them out. I get it though, clickbait and all...people like clickbait.

i agree! i am sick and tired of alpha males, who have egos big as a house and who have no job and contribute zero to society... define me and everyone who isn't a super star at poker as... crazy, a donkey, useless, a moron, an idiot and worse... think about the logic.. when i lose money these jerks humiliate me??? so wish that I and other newcomer and girls, no longer play at their tables?
these poker stars have two digit IQs... with a decimal in the center

This was a great move by Jake Cody. If we want poker to grow and thrive we cannot be demonizing new players making plays that aren't optimal. There is no way anyone new to poker will see the bashing of an amateur and then feel welcome to try out the game. It's nice that Poker Night in America creates consistent content but they need to be aware of their branding.

yes I read it and I sorry - i venting about what its like generally for me, a new to poker player (since May) studying hard and playing a lot
i don't know about you but i have been called every rude and vulgar name imaginable when i win and publically humiliated when i lose...
and what gets me is others at the table say nothing and often join in
when i was very new this hurt my feelings and serious make me cry sometimes
what i promise now is....
i will not tolerate such vulgar rudeness against any poker player and when i see it i tell them to stop it! (keeps me busy on pokerstars amongst Russians and Brazilians) lol

i played competitive tennis and you know a new player we encouraged and helped and never called them fish or donkeys nor laughed at them when they lost... geeze does poker need be populated with so many assholes?

I think it's awesome he stood up for the amateurs. And agree with Lee Jones that it is harmful for the game and community.

It will be as long as you paint everyone with the same brush and ignore the people trying to help, like Jake Cody the useless imbecile (ie poker pro). Maybe you can ask some of the residents pros at CC why they are such assholes?

A respectable move by Mr. Cody! There will always be a bit of ribbing at the table but come on man. Makes amateurs shy away from playing. Can't we all just get along lol!

you need to wake up sunshine...she is absolutely right, people love to mock others less able than themselves. Try being kind and more considerate

Maybe consider that chat is making you tilt, Krista, and turn it off or use it to tilt them right back. Can't be a shark if you sing like a whale with hurt feelings or fried fish.

You should consider using these table antics against them.

They are telling you what they think of you.....use that against them.

When a player tells you that they don't respect you - usually they don't respect your play either.

It is a good situation to trap the players that are most vocal against you.

Good luck !

Thank you for the condescension "Sunshine". Good job on missing my point.

I feel you shouldn't berate fish, but at the same time if you are putting yourself out in the public eye like that.. you open yourself up for criticism. It almost seems like the video titles are more of a "click bait" style, rather than intentionally trying to degrade him. Also, they didn't berate him or insult him to his face (I believe), which some could argue that talking behind someones back is worse, but that leads back to my main point... If you are going to play in an unconventional way, in the public eye or on stream (etc.) then expect it to be talked about.. period.

Nobody should be berated, insulted or abused at the table (or anywhere else for that matter) irrespective of how experienced they are or any other reason.

Usually people lashing out are insecure or projecting their own issues but it can be easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment.

It's prudent to observe this carefully.

KristaK you're a sweetheart, reading about your upset was saddening & made me wish to have been at those tables with the mean bullies!

I agree it is bad for the game. The donks and fish need to feel comfortable and explicitly making fun of them is not conducive to a profitable environment. Though there is a player on this thread that plays on ACR and made me laugh with how bad they play....i won't name names but if it is too funny it is funny and difficult to resist laughing out loud at the table.

Ding. Ding. Ding.

Poker videos posted on Youtube specifically are intentionally labeled with provocative titles and the thumbnails. No one knows how that trend started but its the only way to compete for views. Furthermore, its obvious that JC and other outspoken voices did not actually watch the video because there was a lot that lead up to that moment, and the livestream commentary doesn't say anything directly disparaging. Lastly, you need to look at the context of what's going on. This clip was on twitch, where the style of the commentary may be catered towards interacting with an active chat, rather than your run of the mill made-for-tv commentary.
