Tempted to rant, but I'll let their own hypocritical words speak for themselves. Note: they do not call for outlawing lotteries, betting on horse-racing or fantasy football they only want to restore the previous interpretation of the Wire Act.
Making the Internet Family-Friendly

Millions of Americans suffer from problem or pathological gambling that can destroy families. We support the prohibition of gambling of the Internet and call for reversal of the Justice Department's decision distorting the formerly accepted meaning of the Wire Act that could open the door to Internet betting. The Internet must be made safe for children.
Rest of platform here if you have the stomach for it.

How is this any different than the DNCs position?

On-line Poker will certainly not determine my choice in voting, either way ... our future and country's future is more important.

Fortunately Mitt Romney makes it very easy for me to do whatever necessary to vote against him. :)

DNC's platform not determined yet. Let you know when it is.

Granted on-line poker is not everything. It's also not the only thing they want to control.

But it would be nice if they spent less time trying to control everyone's life and more on fixing the real problems we have. It's too bad the nanny-staters have hi-jacked the party so that fiscal conservatives have to hold their noses and cross their fingers to vote Republican.

They claim to want to appeal to women and young people, I don't see this platform as a way to do it.

I also hate hypocrisy--but that applies to both sides. What we need is a viable third party and throw these bums out.

+1 CYA

There are much more important things to worry about with the RNC platform.
Among which is a complete ban on abortions regardless of rape, incest, or a woman's health.

I hold little hope for legalized Poker from people with such narrow minds.

make the internet children friendly....

if only they'd invent some type of parental controls (oh wait)

Yea we definitely gotta stop kids from downloading and playing a card game for free, seeing as how kids cant deposit without stealing from parents (which is far more serious) Nevermind if they stumble onto a (100% legal) sites showing a woman being violated by a horse or sites with death footage. I can see how poker can be much more traumatizing:rolleyes:

Just like any other site showing mature content, there are age restictions. Underage exposure should not even be involved in the debate

edit: Don't let kids stumble upon poker sites and become poker players when they grow up. Let them stumble across porn and become pornstars.

Unless they're now giving out credit cards to 12 year olds I don't understand that statement at all.

God I feel sorry for your country sometimes. Just leave people the **** alone.

I can't imagine a future for the children of this country if this platform is the way that their parents think. Individuals first, then institutions. Not institutions restricting individuals. They must want to institutionalize the country. Bad idea.

Like everything else which president sits in the WH does not matter. You have to get this through congress and those control freaks with their casino buddies are not about to let you have some good old fashion American fun. No way no how.

This is certainly not the death knell of our fight. It's unfortunate that so much ignorance still abounds about poker and it's clear distinctions from other forms of gambling, but it just means we must redouble our efforts to educate our leaders and the public in general.

Neither can it be cause to jump on the Democratic Party bandwagon, for even if there is no anti poker plank in their platform, they are no more engaged in our struggle that the GOP.

We should just take this as an indication that there is more work to be done, and continue the fight with positive attitudes. We still have heros in the GOP and we need them there, we just need to earn the support of some more

Right you are Wally, the Dems aren't helping one bit that I can see. We just need to keep trying to convince the pro-business sect that this is good for everyone

It sure doesn't seem like I'm living in a free country sometimes. I do realize that some countries have it worse but this is still a shame.

you know the real change happens at the primary level, we take away the party's power by ousting members of our own preferred party for failure
