Every so often I come across an article about a congressman introducing a bill that would legitimize online poker at a national level, but nothing seemed to have come of their efforts. However, as different states, such as Nevada and New Jersey, have begun actively promoting the game, Congress may soon follow suit. In fact, a Congressional panel has begun debating the issue very recently. Let's hope...

You can play online but just not on all sites and how everyone else can and with the ease of using your bank account to deposit/withdraw, won't happen overnight but there is already progress with nevada and new jersey starting to legalize it so there is hope

It's been said often, but always needs repeating. We can't simply wait and hope that the government gets around to giving us what we want. We first need to make clear how many of us there are, and what it is we want.

Poker forums are full of players talking to themselves about what is, what could be, and what should be. But that doesn't change anything anywhere. If all of these same players were talking to the right people, we would move the ball much faster.

Action will bring far better results than hope ever will.

It really was a good read. It still makes me angry to think what D.C. has managed to do to us "free" Americans. I'm in Texas and really don't think I'll live long enough to see us being able to play against other States or against the world. I do hope I'm wrong.

USA Poker

Online poker technically is legal in the USA in most states. Sites like Bovada and America's Cardroom are great sites for example. It's the sites like Full Tilt and pokerstars tho that we all really want back with high traffic and good games.

What an interesting article. I can't wait for the day when we(U.S.players) will be able to deposit on ps or ftp again. Now were just waiting on congress to formally affirm online poker will remain legal.

When will end the federal investigation, and all will receive the punishment, then here is the return of poker in the U.S., but with the new regulatory legislation (taxes will be high )

USA BABY

Yeah, this s*** sucks. I don't know why we can't play poker online anymore. This is yet another reason why America struggles with debt.

perhaps American politicians are not very strong in poker, and from envy had to block it for the whole country

Actually friends, the revenue that would come from online poker wouldn't be as much as you think, and then knowing how the gov. operates, there would be an over abundance of agency's involved , costing no telling how much. Then the politicians have to get their piece of pie. You think they are in office because they want to "serve" the people? Maybe in 1776 but today who is going to spend 10-20 million bucks just to "serve" the people? MONEY is the motivation in todays politics, poker players pony up a few billion, and i guarantee you legislation will be in place in a week.

Yes I definitely think they should allow US players again. I thought the ban in general was ridiculous -- it was just a tax issue anyhow wasn't it?

I thoroughly enjoyed the article. We are on our way. Do any of you live in Nevada or NJ? how are the LEGAL poker outlets treating you? I thought it was awesome how you could go to a casino and deposit/withdraw online funds instantly.

Again? Did we ever have the full right to play? Definitely what we need now and not lose our money to failing poker sites.
