This is very sad to see. I thought his speech play was sort of good for the game of poker, but after this unethical display of stealing I have lost all respect for Kassouf. I think the sponsor drops we're warranted and I do not see him being able to recover.

I had no idea this happened. I have been away from ALL poker for a couple of months.I was not a big fan of his, mainly because he seemed to drag out every one of his actions for no real reason. I know after he gained his poker fame, he became even worse. If a TV camera was around it became almost unbearable.

This is what bothers me most about social media and what "culture" now considers taking responsibility. He commits a crime, the average person off the street would have the casino pressing charges against them. If the story or the fact that the person was arrested got back to that person's employer they probably would lose their job. In Wil's case, the casino does not press charges, he does lose his sponsorship. Now, many in Twitter community say all is forgiven because he took "responsibility" BUT- I say that is a bunch of crap. He blamed his actions on alcohol so he wants us to believe that no, he is not responsible, it is alcohol's fault??I always tell people alcohol lets a person's true character show, I think that is what happened here.

You do make some good points.

Twitter or social media, in general, can be very cruel or biased, that's for sure. Will is a poker personality - some like him, some don't. And yes, he did blame his actions on alcohol and they were his actions.

Maybe the penalty should have been stiffer, who knows. Time will only tell if he deserves a second chance, is my philosophy.

Super disappointing. As much as everyone loved to hate him, I enjoyed watching him play. But when it comes to cheating you get what you deserve. I think his loss of sponsorship and ban from all properties is fair, that’s what he deserves. His career will definitely take a hit, but he’s still a good player and he’ll still be able to make a living.

Very sad to hear that he stole chips in the casino of his own sponsor , even if the one he stole from was one of his friends . The punishment imposed on him is strict , but is sth that will make him think twice before commiting such an action again in the future and also be more carefull with his behavior , I guess .

I don't know what is his realations with his friends , if he behaves in a crazy way to them and they have granted him the right to do so , if the intoxicated crazy Kassouf did that thinking that his friends would not mind because they know him and he would return the money later (ofcourse even this is unacceptable for me and for all players/normal persons :().
Or maybe this is the real Kassouf , being intoxicated he releases his true self , a person without limits that would steal for real even from his friends , a thief ??.
I am not sure , but either way , now he has to change , his reputation is hurt , he has to do sth for this . He lost a sponsorship for being an idiot (I hope not a thief) .
Now he is a bad example of a poker player for more people than before

For some reason something about his charactor just never sat right with me. But I don't wish anything bad on anyone. I also don't blame the sponsers at all. I wouldn't want to be affiliated with him if I were them either

Yeah, we just never really know unless we live their life.

Sometimes even really good people make mistakes. We will see how this one plays out - time will tell.

I never liked the guy at all. His speech-play was a total turn off for me, and made watching him on tv totally unbareable. I hope he disappears

An example of how one (or maybe a few) bad decisions can lead to very serious consequences. The loss of his sponsorship is a serious financial/publicity consequence. But, as mentioned earlier in the thread, a regular person would likely be facing legal consequences, as well.

I guess we'll see what ends up happening, maybe there's more to come. Bet he doesn't feel like he has the "coconuts" after this incident!

This guy is awesome! He is the perfect villain- He is universally hated and lives up to his "I'm a total douche bag " role every time we see him! Hope he can quit drinking , but not stop being who we all love to hate him for...
