"Definitely one of the odder twists in the Black Friday saga.

As first reported by the Wall Street Journal, former Full Tilt Poker head Ray Bitar has reached a deal with United States authorities that will allow Bitar to avoid serving any jail time.

The twist: Bitar is apparently in urgent need of a heart transplant or an artificial heart due to a severe medical condition. The specifics of his condition are unknown."

I have a lot of contempt for a legal process that let's these guys who ripped off mega millions of dollars skip away without jail, while a poor black man ripping of a tv set faces years in the can. All because the government gets a big check, while they have been damn slow about compensating victims.

Ray is not going to have an easy life. This is assuming he gets a heart. He has to forfeit his assets. He is not going to be able to live the luxury he is used to. Since he isn't going to have any money, he is going to have to get a job. Going to be hard when you have a heart issue. Plus who is going to hire an employee who ran a company into the ground. Not to mention his face is one of the most hated in poker. Always watching his back and t wondering if he is going to get jumped. Post heart transplant isn't a cup of tea. Constant Dr. Visits and medications.

My question is why waste a good heart on a thief?

The reason is they believe Bitar only has 6 months to a year to live at most. And if incarcerated he wouldn't be able to get a heart transplant

Which is basically like giving him the death penalty.
