In the state of this economy, are people really going to vote for a guy because he supports poker?

Well, at least your wasting your vote instead of making a decision between the two candidates that matter.

Also, sooner or later I will be banned from this site because of my brasshness (read: harsher word that brashness).

did you not read that I said I wouldn't vote for him because I don't know enough about him

I wouldn't be surprised if you got banned because you decide to post before reading the posts that come after op so please either read the whole thing or don't comment at all

Agreed not enough information on the guy this is the first time I've even heard his name surprised you even know that much about him

NM is New mexico right? which is about 1400 miles away from me but I don't support Obama and I don't support Romney but I know a vote on a third guy is a vote wasted

I wasn't talking about you

I just don't think that this post, or any post like this, deserves to be made in a poker forum. Because it advocates for a presidential candidate for the sole reason of his poker stance. Which comes off as self-centered when considering the state of this country.

How about you read the context of my post before you post, or don't post at all. (Which I will admit partly my fault for being not precise)

I don't understand why you let this bother you no one is supporting the guy only because he supports poker the only thing posting this on here does is inform our community that there is a politician that supports poker and gives us hope that there are others and that they can get a bill passed and we can be free to play like in the old days

and in my opinion this does deserve to be posted on a poker forum because it is poker related and if it wasn't meant to be on here a mod would have removed it

Gary Johnson made a bid for the Republican nomination but got no traction and neither did Huntsman, probably because they both were intelligent, didn't claim that god told them to run, believe in science and didn't pander to the base.

Johnson is now running as the Libertarian candidate.

cool dude, probs wouldn't make a great president as not polished/only 2 terms as gov, no other real experience.....chance of winning: 0%

Compared to the vast experience of Obama when he ran for president?

Gary Johnson started a handyman business and turned it into a multi-million dollar business then 8 years as New Mexico Governor; inherited $300 million deficit; cut taxes 14 times; vetoed 750 spending bills; best job creation record in nation during his term.

Climbing Mt Everest is no small feat.

Unfortunately, no third party candidate has a chance of winning. The two parties with all the power make sure the deck is stacked in their favor.

It will be interesting to see how many percentage points he manages to pull away from the mainstream candidates. I hope it comes from the Republican side...

I met Gary Johnson when he came to my college a couple of years ago. He seemed like a nice down to earth guy. His running mate James Gray came a few months later, and he also seemed like a good guy. I got to talk with Gray a lot more than with Johnson. I'll probably end up voting for them, especially since they support online poker.

Dummies the two big parties that are run by the corporations tell you if you vote for a third party you are wasting your vote! Then they rip you off over an over again, and you keep buying the propaganda. If you vote Dem or Rep you deserve the crap you get. Good luck with Obamney.....

Agreed! It gives an opportunity for more info to come forth, which is already happening in the above posts. He sounds like he may have some good qualities and it's never a bad thing to explore possibilities. Thanks for the post.

Unless Gary can break into the mainstream national media as a candidate, he doesn't have an ice cube's chance in Yuma of being elected. At a minimum, he should attempt to crash a Presidential debate. I don't see that happening.

I'm writing in my candidate this year (I'm well aware that my candidate has a very very very very very slim chance of even coming close to winning), but I'm still going to exercise my right to vote for who I want to vote for. I considered Gary Johnson.. I also like Ron Paul.. but I'm not sure either will be able to beat Mickey Mouse.

Since Ron Paul actually dropped out, and Gary Johnson is still running.. I'll probably vote for him.

When I first heard of this guy I thought he was republican, but looks like he came to his senses and is now libertarian. He has a video going arond twitter, should be checked out. Itjust too bad that a thrid party will never make it in, Hard to believe Ross Perot was the last one to even get close and then he went on TV an sounded like a nut talking abouthis family was in danger and dropped out. Its too bad he had the momentium
