After a public nomination process and approval by the Council of the Poker Hall of Fame, the top ten finalists for possible induction into the Hall of Fame Poker as part of the class of 2013 has been revealed:

Mike Matusow
Tom McEvoy
Carlos Mortensen
Scotty Nguyen
Huckleberry Seed

Several of the most recognized names in the poker world are included in the list, with multiple titles, achievements and recognitions along their paths. The name that comes up in the list is the "Jaws" Humberto Brenes, who could become the first Latino member in the history of the Poker Hall of Fame. The final vote to spend up to two of these ten players will be recognized by a panel of 37 people made ​​up of the 19 living members of the Hall of Fame and 18 characters of the press.

New members of the Poker Hall of Fame will be announced once all the votes have been received (no later than October 11) and counted by the Governing Council of the wsop. The induction ceremony will take place during the celebration of the final table of the Main Event 2013 on 3 November at the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas.

Oh dear gawd please, not Brenes! Not the Chark!

Seriously, his accomplishments are pretty minor compared to most of the other names on the list.

Scotty would be my pick - reckon he'd be in there already if it weren't for the ugly $50K HORSE incident a few years back...
