The first major event of 2016 is now in the books, and it will likely end up as one of the biggest high roller events of the year. The inaugural WPT Triton Super High Roller Cali Cup $200,000 buy-in event drew 52 entries to the Solaire Resort Casino in Manila, Philippines. The huge turnout built a prize pool of $10,039,120. Fedor Holz emerged victorious in the end, topping an absolutely stacked final table to capture the title, the first-place prize of $3,463,500 and 600 Card Player Player of the Year points.

The 22-year-old German poker pro has now cashed for more than $5 million in the last three weeks, having won the 2015 WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas $100,000 buy-in event on Dec. 20th for $1,589,219.

The event ran over the course of two days. At the end of day 1 Phil Ivey held the chip lead, but he ultimately finished fifth in the event for $656,500 while Holz accumulated enough chips to make it to heads-up play with American David Peters. Holz began the final showdown with nearly a 2-to-1 chip advantage. The two played only four hands before the final pot of the tournament arose.

Peters raised to 350,000 from the button with the blinds at 75,000 – 150,000 with an ante of 25,000. Holz made it 1 million to go and Peters moved all in. Holz made the call with the 7

I love this kid. And it's no surprise that he has won yet another Super High Roller event. He has been absolutely killing it for the last while. Incredible player. I'm a big, big fan and can't wait to see what he does through out 2016.
