He retweeted our tweet - making it look like we are the only ones who got it right. :)

I know, right?!

Doyle made it pretty clear earlier in the week, he wanted to be available more for his ailing wife. Sometimes, people run with some words, like retirement, without getting more clarification. Retirement isn't a death sentence, nor does it forbid you to have fun in that field in the 'after life'.

I retired from my job, but didn't stop me from dabbling in that field even after retirement.

I'm glad Jon found more to report on the story. :)

As I posted in another thread, I never thought he would completely retire, since he famously said,
"You don't stop playing poker because you get old, you get old because you stop playing poker."

Plus, it seems like the record turnout for the WSOP Seniors proves him right!

Doyle's retirement

It's hard to not respect the man but he's my least favorite poker player of all time. I know it's a hard time for the poker community but I'm happy. I just dislike his little clichés. "That's poker folks." "Lucks just the door, you gotta sneak in through the winder." My favorite poker player of all time (other than myself) is Tom Dwan due to his loose style of play. I could never adapt that to my own game unless I'm getting blinded out.

Doyle is not the only one announcing retirement and still playing.

Fedor, Vanessa Selbst, and many others
