Doyle Brunson declined the deal for $ 230,000,000

Doyle Brunson is a living poker legend, the owner of ten gold bracelets in the wsop and two-time World Series champion (1976 and1977). He became one of the famous poker players who was admitted to the Poker Hall of Fame. In the gaming community received the name "Texas Dolly", but now he is respectfully called the "godfather" of gambling. Despite the fact that the peak of his poker activity is over, he continues to warm up the public's interest with stories about his career. So, the other day Doyle Brunson posted on Twitter a post about a $ 230,000,000 disastrous transaction.

Ten years ago, the poker player refused a major offer for $ 230,000,000 for an online room that was named after him - DoylesRoom.com. According to Branson, he and his partners abandoned the deal, deciding that the price of the site is much higher than the proposed price. However, after the Law on Responsibility for Illegal Internet Gambling (UIGEA) in 2006, the online room stopped making profits. In 2011, after Black Friday, which also hit Brunson's pocket, he and his partners sold the site for an unknown sum.

On his Twitter page, Doyle Brunson wrote that he "still has nightmares" because of a missed chance to make good money.

You got a bad beat Doyle. Just like one of the million hands you have been dealt, you make your best assessment with the information you have at the time. You never know what card may fall afterward that can make or break you.

So would've Doyle... hence the reason for the article. (he still has nightmares about it).At the time they calculated the site to be worth a higher value than the 230mill offered. (I used to love playing on that site when I first got started playing online poker... loved the software & loved the games they had available. It changed a few times before going down the tubes actually ending up on Yatahay (previously on Cake) which eventually was taken over by A.C.R. I believe.

Ah yes, the old I missed out on 230mm on a tuesday story. Don't we all have one of those....LOL...Wow, that one does have to sting a bit! Something tells me he is not missing any meals though. That man has made some serious bank over the years!!!

The main money entrepreneurs make their money is by selling their business to rich Corporations. $230M cash guaranteed or an unsteady,illegal operation that takes tremendous amount of work to stay relevant.

I use to play on DoylesRoom, years ago. Never won anything, however, it was good to play there at the time...

Yeah, pretty massive error in judgment in my opinion... Played on the site, but it wasn't anything special. In fact, it's traffic and software was way off from stars, tilt, and party.

Played there for a bit. I believe it's where I was introduced to Badugi, the best poker game.


On a related note Negreanu has said he had an offer of 170 million for his poker website before the UIGEA.

Man imagine how much money he had to be turning thst down. Sheesh

pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered? That's a lotta money!

I didn't even know Daniel Negraneu had a poker website....
