With the recent attention the Selbst/Mercier prop bet was given and the excitement it created, it got me to thinking, are prop bets based on the winning and losing of a tournament a bad thing? Does it hurt the integrity of the game when action is being taken on both sides?
My opinion: Probably not since most are made in a fun and a competitive spirit usually in smaller fields with high buy ins . (however)
I guess when I look at some of the other bad things that have happened in poker in recent years gone by, based on greed ,and gaining an edge, that when I see action being taken on both sides there's this part of me that feels it can lead to someone taking it to far and hurting the integrity of a game, a game that needs to be cleaned up so that it can be regulated and run again all over the U.S.
