Former boxing world champion, David Haye, partnered with Grosvenor in 2018 to learn the poker basics and since then David has developed a passion for the game. Chart the highs and lows of poker in David Haye’s new documentary on Amazon Prime, David Versus Goliath - this looks to be worth a look!

I watched this yesterday (roughly an hour and a half long). I rather enjoyed it even though I knew the outcome. :)

This looks interesting thanks for posting it. Especially since I'm running out of things to watch lately LOL I'm almost willing to watch things that I normally wouldn't:)

As someone who has played many UK festivals and indeed Goliath, I was dreading this documentary expecting it to be cliched, glib and cringeworthy.

I was not to be proved wrong. It is truly awful.

What shocked me most though (and I appreciate editing may have influenced this) was just how poor the coaching from the so-called 'pros' was. They had no idea how to tailor their teaching to their pupil and as an ex-teacher, it was embarrassing to see how poor their strategies were. Three people, two semi-decent pros and a market girl just barking instructions at him with no structure, overloading him with information and showing no understanding of Haye's inability to focus and learn - something he admitted early on.

It was fun seeing some of the casinos I play at and some familiar faces but the programme itself was dire.

I agree with you on how the 3 pro coaches did not tailor teaching to fit David- I could see this in the first meeting they had (noting David yawning a lot AND he did admit to not having been a good student in the past)

But, in my opinion, the overall story was a good one. Mind you, we do not all have the resources David had but kudos for doing whatever it took to get to the end result. He was determined not to look a fool...at least that's my take away from it all.

Oh, and CardsChat's poker pro Jeff Gross, was in this one as well. :)

Hmmm... I can't find it. Maybe Prime has different selections for different countries like Netflix.

Usually, canada seems to be the one country that doesn't have access but this time we actually got this documentary.

Maybe it will be added soon? It could be a delayed release and I hope you get to see it soon, too!

I remember watching the goliath last year. How many re entries did he have again? And always on the feature table spoiled it for me.

Very easy to play when it's not your own money. Most of us would only be able to afford a single entry or 2 at most.

I think Grosvenor bought him in twelve times - I may be wrong but not by much.

The whole project was a farce.
