Daniel Negreanu Picks Hockey Over Poker, Will Miss WSOP Events for Stanley Cup Finals

Did you know....Daniel was a part of the Vegas Golden Knights 'Founding 50'? (a core group who worked toward bringing hockey to Las Vegas before the team was even named)

While there was a scheduling conflict for Daniel, he isn't crazy enough to skip the WSOP but is tailoring the early portion around the Stanley Cup Finals.

I am watching the Super High Roller Bowl. It seems that Daniel is letting the hockey game distract him from the poker game. He's not as focused as usual. Could cost him several million dollars, unfortunately.

I read the history of the Vegas club. Daniel was one of the participants.

Seeing as Daniel is Canadian and a HUGE hockey fan, I am not surprised, at all, about this decision.

As he has said, the wsop comes around every year, but the chance to witness, in person, an expansion team fight for the Stanley Cup is a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Besides, there will still be numerous events he can enter, so it's really not that big of a deal.

I'm sorry but a hockey team in Vegas makes no sense at all.

I bet they said that when Los Angeles joined the NHL, too. The Vegas fans might have something to say about it all though. :)

in my opinion Daniel Negreanu is the number one poker player, he thinks that he should only dedicate himself to poker.

If I had $ 40 million in prize money, not to mention advertising money, I'd be having a lot of fun, too.:D

Pretty class from Daniel-we all have our hobbies though. If i became a multi-millionaire through poker and the during the WSOP the FIFA world cup was showing I'd skip tournaments to watch the socceroos play

It is wise for one to educate themselves comprehensively to understand some things. Las Vegas has wanted a Professional Sports Team for a very long time now. Visitors come here to Las Vegas because of the entertainment and let loose lifestyle.

The Knights had an awesome season and have had an awesome fan base since they started playing here. Tickets to the last Stanley Cup game were going for at least $1,000 a piece on stub hub. Playoff Tickets were $250 for high up seats.

When someone comes to Vegas for Vacation, there are so many different things going on and so much to do. Having Hockey and Football (in a couple years) is great for this city. I think that they are going too fast, but Vegas always has.

In addition to the 2.1 billion dollar Raiders Stadium, Caesars is building a $375 million conference center. To top it off, my house has increased in value by 166% in 8 years.

Hopefully after this explains why hockey makes sense in Las Vegas. Just because there isn't ice on the ground outside, doesn't mean you can't play hockey! Las Vegas Loves Hockey! I see it all over every day! We have a Knights Banner outside my workplace!!

I don' t know how much of his personal money he invested in the team. But it is just that, an investment. When he enters into a WSOP event, he is investing and hoping for a return.

For a first year team to make it as far as they did, yeah, I'd watch my investment too. But watching his vlogs, he enjoyed the hockey games and worked his "day job" (poker) around them. And heck, he made 5-years of my pay in Bobby's Room the one night.

Not too shabby for a guy that moved to Vegas on a dream all those years ago.

Hopefully with last nights bag for him and the hockey season officially over, he can cash a few games. I do think he was distracted, but what's a guy to do when he has all that going for him.
