It was surprising to learn that the first few times he came back from Las Vegas home penniless. Indeed purposeful. The best player in the world, I think.

Yesterday saw the movie "Kid Poker"
I think that Daniel has done and is doing a lot of poker. Just for that it must be respected.
In addition, he is able to show themselves in the frame, can be an actor, able to attract and retain attention.
Thank you Daniel and thanks to poker.

I loved seeing his relationship with his mother throughout the doc, especially early in his winning days when he spoke about bringing home thousands of dollars and throwing it all in the air in the front room celebrating with her.

Painted a great picture.

it was well done, so PROPS to pokerstars for the production value.

However, even though I love DN, and think he may be one of the best tournament players ever, and probably the nicest (to a degree - he favors the women, but thats fine by me), I did not see anything special in his life that seemed too inspirational, (except that he went broke and then became a winner - but yet almost ALL poker players do this so not that special) - he had a great home life, never had any real life struggles, just seemed so easy for him - not typically what documentaries are made up of.

I got to see the movie. At the end it still seems like he fights inside himself with taking peoples money and contributing to charity enough to make it a respectful profession. We can't all be like Lederer and not have a conscience.

Yes, though I wonder to what degree he doesnt LIKE taking peoples money, I do love his stance on giving back to society - those that have should always give to those that dont in any profession, whether it be money, goods, or time- whenever they can afford it.

Now his argument that they dont already have societal influence - well its a matter of opinion I think - dealers have jobs, tv and internet have something to broadcast, magazines have stuff to write about, poker rooms make money for owners and (in cases like Michigan and New Hampshire) charities - lots of people make money because of poker, not just the players. The only downside, is that most of the clients of poker will spend money and get absolutely nothing of substantial value from it (no - the experience of playing is not substantial - to me at least) - in fact they even lose more in time and travel, or in online cases time and electricity and internet costs.

My house, my car, my medical expenses, and my food are being paid for by poker players, and not from me playing.

I thought this was a really good documentary and his story was inspirational. He seems a very likeable guy and he is straight to the point and honest. He says what he means and there's too many people out there too scared for that.

It was a good story and his brother seemed like s really nice guy and very supportive. The mom was really sweet and reminded me a lot of Antonio esfandiaris dad in the way they always had them by there side and stayed close
