I pictured Greg Raymer on the witness stand wearing the reptile glasses.

A couple of interesting comments on the article:

Poker is a game of skill for the 10% who play it well, but for the other 90% it is no different than slot machines, playing blackjack or roulette, or betting on horses.

I understand the reasoning behind the "poker is a game of skill argument", but the law is designed to protect the vast majority of people who don't know how to play.

Blackjack is also a game of skill if you know how to count cards. Roulette is a game of skill if you can find imperfections in the wheel.

Just by proving a game is a "game of skill" doesn't automatically mean it should be legal.

Laws are not in place to protect people from themsleves, they exist to protect us from each other. In a free society, we don't need laws to protect dumb people from doing dumb things to themselves.

The state I'm sure brought up Raymers run in with the law. You know, the prostitution sting. (credibility destroyed!)

I doubt the state brought up raymers past criminal charges due to the fact that he was there to act as a poker ambassador of some sort, likely to be more positive than negative. I don't think they treated him like he was a suspect.
