What do you think about Moneymaker´s indication as one of the possible 2 persons elected for the Hall of Fame of Poker this year?

In my personal view despite the list of great results of him is not that big as some other great players but his victory in the ME of wsop after getting his seat in a cheap satellite and generating the boom of poker in the early 2000 years and his work after that as embassador of pokerstars promoting the poker for recreative players and non-professionals to play big Live MTTs as qualifiers from cheap satellites makes him deserves this place in the HF...

What do you think about it?

I asked several question to Him on Cards chat.
based on what I feel about him with the reply I got.

Moneymaker is very honest for himself, he knows the strong point and weak point on him, and he is good at compare the edge between himself and other players he is playing against.

all these makes him a great player.

I think, there is no problem for him to be elected as a member of Hall of Frame.

Yes, He got luck to win as a recreational player in 2003, but he has the merit of being a great pro, and he did it.

:D

We are still playing on the residual value he provided to the game through the exposure generated to help create that whirlwind era after his big win. He belongs in the hall in my opinion for that alone.

Moneymaker deserves to be elected for the Hall of Fame of Poker this year .
He has contributed a lot with his win-phenomeno back in 2003 .
He inspired a lot of recreational people to "engage " in poker since then . Many believed they could achieve sth good as poker wasn't only for pros , many learnt about poker because of him and in the face of Moneymaker I think they will honor all the online poker players and their achievements as well .
I hope the above view to prevail and not a nonsense such as that except for 2003 win he has no other great win to show or that online poker now is not that popular as it used to be (cause moneymaker is connected with the boom of online poker in the 2000s) and Moneymaker gets what he deserves !!

Chris Moneymaker has long since did anythong worthwhile but I have an autographed baseball hat for sale. Playful is surprised that he was considered to be the list for the Hall of Fame already

Face on it, I 'm Negreanu ... like the history of Cris , and its activities away from the table , but when they say that he is a player to get into the story I say bullshit.

Absolutely. His previously unprecedented win in 2003 has brought tens of thousands into the game. The Main Event wouldn't be anything near as big as it is now without that influence.

Certainly Moneymaker should be in. It's maybe more of a timing and some pure luck, but he was the starting point of poker boom which still lasts today in much more living form than pre-2003.

The entire poker industry owes him so much - very well deserved in my opinion.

It is not about him being one of the most accomplished winners in poker - it is about what he has done for the poker industry.

There are others nominated for similar reasons -none of which have made anywhere near the impact that he has made.

Yes he should be in the hall of fame. He is the reason millions of people are now playing poker including myself. Before he won the wsop I didn't even know about the wsop.

yes and I don't think it should even be questioned however that being said I think his induction would be even more special if it came on the heels of poker being regulated and allowed in the U.S......but that's just me :)

Maybe I might sound a little bias on the election of Moneymaker into the Hall of Fame, because is is from my neck of the woods and I have had many opportunities to play alongside as well as just converse with him. Staying humble in the light of great success is what clinches my vote for him. So yes he does deserve it.

He won this very important thing in 2003, but after it - not so much. He was/is kind of an average Joe gambler, i like him. And he is more an ambassador than a pro poker player. If tournament directors can be in the HOF, then Moneymaker too!

I fully agree with your position and make mine your opinion!;)

By the way he has already been choosen for the Hall of Fame? If not when it will be decided?

money maker created the poker boom! i watched every WSOP main event from that point on. before that i saw poker as a bunch of boring old drunk guys trying to bluff each other. I'm sure most of us here today are a result of the poker boom. moneymaker changed the lives of a lot of people by showing the world anyone can win a poker tournament and make some good money. so he deserves the spot in the hall of fame.

Before his main event win, didnt he exclusive play on-line?
If so, maybe they should of waited a few more years to grant this 1.

Absolutely. His win at the WSOP was the inspiration for so many of us. Without it poker may never have had exploded like it did.
