CardsChat Poker Pro Interview: "ElkY" Grospellier Talks WSOP, Staying Positive

Since Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier came on the poker scene some 10 years ago, he has gained the respect of poker players the world over. As the article states: "His hair color and bedazzled shirts may change, but his undeniable force at the tables is a constant."

ElkY sat down with CardsChat News writer Jennifer Newell and talked about his rough start on the journey to this year's wsop, and how he stays positive and balanced while grinding WSOP events.

He is still playing??

Oh my, just looked at his Hendon Mob, and it isn't a pretty picture considering he plays some high rollers so his buy in numbers must be highish.

No 6 figure scores for over a yr....only 2 in the last 2+ neither that high and AGAIN he is playing high rollers.

Hopefully P* is footing the bill for his lifestyle.

When that P* money dries up, he betting control himself bc I could see him way busto quick.

Good interview shows what some international players have to go through not everything works out. But I liked him for a while now haven't heard much about him lately.

(X) He is playing 25ks/100ks
(X) 2 yrs, yes, if you're playing this high and don't make a major score for over 2 yrs.....you aren't going to be making money.
(X) No one said he WAS busto or even close to it.
(X) I actually think he is a damn good player.
(X) You can stop embarrassing yourself now.

p.s. The 800k was in a 130K!!!

[ ] knows what he's talking about
[ ] has a great memory

(X) Playing 100k buyins....with reentries.

You can go busto, and or exhaust your stakers appetite pretty quickly when not making any big scores in these through several yrs.

Now, 2 isn't several yet, but....anyone can get into trouble with the stakes they are playing these days. It isn't a personal attack on Elky, but just the reality of playing a lot of high/super high rollers and traveling all over the world.

If you think otherwise you are simply delusional.

Looks like he has a tough decision ahead
75% Income Tax WTF. I know what I'd decide to do

https://www.cardschat.com/news/french-pokerstars-winamax-exit-uk-online-market-6811

"Now, he’ll most likely have to make the decision to move away from the UK to continue playing on PokerStars.fr, but not to his home France, so he doesn’t have to pay a 75 percent income tax rate."

Damn, I guess he'll work around it somehow even if he relocates to france. Wonder if poker losses are tax deductible, that only seems fair. :D
