Is there any way to play now? The ban started on the 11/9. Vpn won't work, pokerstars somehow knew I was using one! Is playing with cryptocurrency illegal?

Hi I've seen Australian people on America's Cardroom the last few days...so there are at least some options.

Yeah Stars won't let you play on a VPN and yes, they're smart enough to catch you. If you want to reactivate an Australian account you have to move to another country, and then prove to them that you've relocated there.

Sites that allow Americans will also allow Australians because they DGAF about the legalities. The Australian legal situation was always that it was illegal for the sites to offer the service to us, not for us to play on them, and as far as I know that hasn't changed (important disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer / this is not legal advice).

All registered players from Australia are not eligible to play. Change the place of residence and documented it.

VPN was a silly way to go, of course Stars knew you were using one.

I still play for cash at all of these following sites that CardsChat has games at, use the links to download the software and you too can play in the CardsChat freerolls and cash games that are in the morning for the Aussie eastern states, 10am at the moment but soon will be at 12noon. Buy in is currently 6am but will be 8am soon when we go to daylight saving time.

These sites all run many freerolls daily.

We have a CardsChat leaderboard competition also that has quarterly and yearly prizes for the CardsChat games, and trust me they are a good quality game, unlike the all in donkfests you can encounter.

You can also play at cash tables and in buy in tournaments.

No you can't poker stars have left Australia, just like 888 did on 1st of Jan and party poker did on 31st August.

These site are very legit and pulled out and will follow the law because when the dickheads in Canberra finally decide that poker isn't what they were really after and start to issue licences for online poker, they want to be the first in line to get back into the Aussie market.

I've tried that using a vpn and pokerstars blocked my UK account.

Of course they did, it is against their T&C's

Hi I've seen Australian people on America's Cardroom the last few days...so there are at least some options.

This, and the other rooms I linked, even ignition poker has recently started allowing Aussies where previously they didn't.

It hasn't changed, go directly to the Bar Association and sign up, do not pass go.

No need to move anywhere.

Condolences to Australia!

For what, it is only 3 poker rooms that stopped providing services, online poker is still alive in Australia.

it's a pity that Australia will not play

We still can play.

Online Poker In Australia ADVICE/DISCUSSION

My first post in forum

As you may know online poker has been banned in Australia.

Apart from playing on Ignition Casino and other not very credible sites. What is the best way to play some online poker in Australia.

The only option I can think of is to get a VPN and set up and off shore bank account so that it can be linked to an online account for withdrawals.

Does anyone out there have any information?

Regards Tony :)

Most reputable sites (Stars, for example) require more than an offshore bank account, they need you to prove that you physically live in the country you claim to be playing from. And they also check for / block VPN access.

A half-arsed attempt at trying to get around that would probably be a Very Bad Idea.

Accept playing on the *ahem* shadier sites or accept only being able to play live for the time being IMO. Or join me on the dark side and switch to sports betting instead ;)

Play at Americas cardroom

I am an Australian and have been playing on Americas Cardroom.
The games are softer than on Poker Stars but the game play seems a lot slower.
Also hasn't got the volume and very small field sizes.

I thought that some problems related to the law, only affected brazil that is a country without for certain subjects .... and with laws exempt for other subjects ... but now I see that the whole world suffers, somehow ... .with this type of problem. I do not know what to think about the Australian government's ban on online poker and the PS leaving the Australian market ... In Russia online poker is banned and Ps continues to accept Russian players .... I believe that in case they have a positioning .

On ACA they only accept crypto I think. So you need to buy crypto from an exchange first. Be careful of high miner fees when transferring!

Not exactly. Russia does not prohibit playing poker for money, prohibited the organization of poker games outside the playing areas. But since the world's poker rooms are outside of Russia, the law is not violated. But attempts to ban the game for money are made constantly.

No, Poker Stars does not service Australia.

It has nothing to do with where your bank account is.
