I kinda figured with the exploitation of bots at partypoker, it wouldn't be long before other poker sites followed suit.

Banning 1 bot is kind of a joke, don't you think? I'll change my tune when I see a list of 200+ on that page. I have been trying to point it out for at least 6 months now... that site is infested with bots. Probably the leading site for bots.

It's a start. I would expect to see much more going on and hopefully, they are working on it round the clock. But you are right they need to do more to prove more and hopefully retain their client/customer base. Just my opinion....

Finally, we see sites owning up that there is or they do have problems which many players have conveyed. Wonder when Stars will announce something to this effect, I only imagine most all sites have a situation on their hands

Personally, I would think bots are on every site and in droves! I am happy they are doing at least something - it may not be enough to some, but hopefully in time the poker sites have some kind of procedure in place to track the bots and be gone with them all! :D Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But one can hope. :)

shows you the 2 they got so far- and they JUST started. Also can see how much was refunded and to whom. Kudos WPN! ACR BCP

Bots were a big reason I took a break from online poker. I would notice accounts playing 10 tables at once and notice that they were collecting insane Leader Board prizes. I hope it is only the beginning!

Glad they are exposing the bots. They are terrible for online poker. I am not sure they will ever get rid of them all though. As they unload some, more will just pop up. If I think there is one at the table, I will mark him, so I can watch and know for later games.

Not saying that bots aren’t a serious issue in online play. Not at all.

And I agree that it would be virtually impossible to totally eliminate them.

Always makes me laugh when I see players in forums talking like “I knew they were there at my table. I knew it” “I know he’s a bot because (random reason)” “I always tag them so I can know they’re there later”

If you KNOW (not suspect. Not “I got a feeling”. Not “he play funny”) you have bots at your table, why would you stay and lose your two dollar bankroll? You’d never hear a top pro say “well I had a funny feeling about this bot. Knew it was a bot but I stayed and lost $450000”

So it Toulon them this long to finally address the issue huh?

At least they've done it.

Couple interesting tid-bits noticed today. Call it coincidence if you like.
I'm sure I wasn't the only one who sent WPN ACR BCP a few names who consistently get beast leaderboard $. Cause they play 30-40 tables 24 hours a day...
Try and find a time in past week or two when MegaDan or lenyax wasn't at most of the 25nl and 50nl tables. u can't.... Until today.
huh.
have another 15+ STRONG suspects. of course no prof. maybe they have a clan in the Ukraine/Moldova/eastern Europe-western Asia and play their account in shifts. Yeah right.
Probably never see a dime back from the cash game bots. Understandable. And good chance the guys just started running under a different name(s). I would.
That's OK. They'll never go away. But I hope this initial
SHOOO
holds for a bit.
And the most egregious have to back down at least a little.
Also curious about the 25k max. Is that regardless of what they had on the books? I bet most of these guys are smart enough to pull out as fast as they can, chip dump, transfer, etc.
But we have no idea. So if a bot has a 100k or more when caught.... ACR keep 75k and doll out the rest?
What if they just cashed out then get caught. ACR take 25k on the chin like the players? (guessing no) These ?s will never actually be answered.
But nice that -hopefully- the guys who've been making a living- a good one- on rakeback and leaderboard money. At least now will need to take a few minutes and run under different screen names. I'm sure it won't take long. But again- it's something :)
The problem with the cash game bots- they are symbiotic with the sites- only parasitic to the players.
Easy to snag couple tourney bots and say- see look- we got 'em. Not to knock the effort. Just really curious to see if it's a true effort or numbers crunch marketing. Lose a little here but accept for the gains in expected return from player confidence. Time will tell.
If party poker- a regulated site- can set the bar at 700k plus. An unregulated network like WPN should blow that # outta the water in days-hours. If they want to.

good news, at last a war against those bots begins ... since I started playing I've seen them and I've had to endure them .. I hope that those bots will be eliminated and that it will be a normal game again

Bots are still the worst nightmare for players and online poker rooms I hope that Pokestars also manage to eliminate or at least reduce these Bots accounts

My opinion

They should make a table where you go against poker bots. It is true. I don't think the general public should be able to use poker bots. But tables by the casino should use poker bots. The casino would be a better guardian and more fair in its winning and losing to a certain player. One thing good about ACR, it doesn't rely on a guardian way of winning. They usually make their guarantees. So the casino don't care who wins.

I really appreciate them taking the initiative to do this, but it makes me wonder what the hell they were doing before and why they didn’t seem to care about all the boys on their platform?

Is it not obvious that bot-or-not, it still pays them rake? From an operator's perspective, what's not to like about accounts that generate rake 24/7? The only reason this is showing up in the news is because it appeases the fish and makes them feel safe again so that they forget that the bots are still there!

When it comes to playing Online poker in the US....
This thread and Bon Jovi have inspired me

(ya gotta sing/read it :)

We gotta hold on
to what we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we play bots or not

We've got CC freerolls
And that's a lot - for LOVE
Let's give it a shot!

Bots are here to stay, and its something we will have to deal with or if you can't beat them join them. Was checking them out, and they have free trials.

Nice to see them taking some action. Unfortunately it's a problem that will probably never go away.

I'm usually in almost all cases in support of opportunity for all but ACR should not allow players from Eastern Europe. They make up such a small percentage of the overall player pool and its been proven across many different networks than these type of players not only are known for botting but also are grinder/rakeback type players that play loads and loads of tables and feast on the weaker players. The reason why sites like them is because they generate loads of rake for the site.
