This is why I prefer Equilab over pokerstove.

I have started to use Equilab a lot since I couldn't use pokerstove anymore and I noticed there is more to do on it compared to pokerstove.

I know it is better to work with a HUD but I haven't got the funds to use a HUD at the moment, I have used all the trials but unfortunately I didn't use the HUD properly, I didn't find out how to plug my leaks and I kept forgetting to use the blomming thing and the trial ended :D I am a scatter brain...

What I like about Equilab is the fact you can see what cards you should be open raising with and what cards you should be 3betting with in certain positions.

I have saved a few screenshots of the results, I believe people who are just starting out on here should download Equilab as it is free to download, which is great for cheap skates like me :)

I have just realised that my screenshots are for fixed limit lol

I have now found how to change to NL for loose or tight player.

Can't believe I have had this program for months and not used it for open raising and 3betting values lol. All I used it for was to check the equity in a pre flop hand and see what equity is after the flop and so on and so on.

Might download that one too as I have heard good things about it.

The only Equilab one I don't like is the Omaha one as it is difficult to use and doesn't have a chart on it like to hold'em one does.

Looking for a good Omaha calculator too.

yeah i like equilab too, can do more things on it than pokerstove...

although stove does work now...dmo fixed it :)

when you get a good bankroll sarah you will be able to get a hud...deffo worth getting in the future....even if you are only playing 1 or 2 tables....but until then you can practice on your note taking skills....by the time you do get your hud your NT skill will be greater than someone who has used the hud from the start and not put much work into NT'ing lol....

equilab is good for looking at ranges like the screenshots but theres much more to it than that....you can use it for checking equity etc.....

for instance you could download a hand replayer and use it when analyzing a hand *or do a HH on here* then open equilab and run a few calculations.....like putting your own hole cards on player 1 and assigning a range to player 2 and dealing the flop from your HH and estimating your equity to that point...then add the T/R...

also look on the pokerbank and look at the REM article *range/equity/maximise*...and look at the *expected value* and *equity* articles and put it all together to get an understanding on why you take a specific action in a hand........

example....what is the most +ev action on the turn versus a specific villian...maybe betting x amount is more profitable or xr is..or xc...etc etc........every decision you make has a expected value against your villans range and tendencies and its good to practice how to work it all out and make the best decisions......obv you cant do that stuff at the table and calculate stuff but if you practice it off the table you will get a good feel for it on the table.....plus your understanding for poker will be far greater.....equilab is the nuts if you take advantage of it....

also if you use google talk then you can download *theholygrailofpoker* .....edit...request as a friend on the website and you can send equity stuff via instant message and get the results back......i.e.......you...aa v kk...holy grail 80/20....can do it for ranges too....very good if you are on your phone and want to learn some numbers....

I just tried this, the slider does not move but it changes the combos and the percentages check above the slider

For PLO use ProPoker Tools

or
http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tools/odds-calculator/omaha
or even
https://www.cardschat.com/poker-odds-calculator.php

Just select Omaha for the dropdown.

PS dont use Equliab whilst having Pokestars open

I downloaded Equilab ages ago but havent really used it as not sure of its full uses

Yea they started banning equilab and pokerstove last year. I got a warning last year as when I got busted out of a tourney I wanted to see if my decison was correct, so I opened up pokerstove and there was my warning. Obviously I wasn't playing a game but it doesn't matter, you cant have PS open when using pokerstove or equilab.

Thanks for the links as I am still chit at omaha :D

EDIT: Just realised, I have already been on these calculators :) I am looking for a calculator where you can add your own ranges, like you can do on equilab on HE, but for some reason equilab doesn't let you do that for oamaha. Maybe there is no calculator out there that does it!

@EvertonGirl, thanks for the info on Equilab. I too had used pokerstove, but Equilab is impressive. I like the Equity Trainer tool.
