Hey someone I know (SWIM) is an avid poker aficionado and plays poker online regularly and is always trying to better his game. He noticed that many software programs that greatly increase a person’s chance of winning online are prohibited and if detected on the computer been used, the persons online poker account will be closed and funds may be seized/frozen/ So SWIM presented me with an interesting question: What if he is playing the online poker on one computer and has the prohibited software running on an entirely different system (i.e. he has two computers on his desk and is switching keyboards, working between the online game and the prohibited program) - can the companies detect the prohibited software if its on another computer?

Any help aprpeciated guys.

From the demos I've seen Im pretty sure those programs are nothing more than instantaneous odds calculators. It's kind of naive to think they can read someones elses hole cards. Use you skills, have fun.

check it out. If he has two computers at the same house the IP adrress is the same which means hes busted.
It takes three computers and two houses I believe.
the first computer is the one your playing on. the second computer is at another house and it has the illegal software. the third computer controls the second computer remotely.
Lol you really shouldnt cheat though. they will seize your money.

But, I'm only trying to become a better player & if cheating helps me to accomplish this, how can that be wrong?
I also know for a fact that, a guy I talked to online, heard a rumor, that there might, possibly be a way to cheat without the sites finding out, so, since everyone else is doin it, why in hell shouldn't I?

You present an interesting theory Mursilis.

The question is - do the companies track the user by IP address (in which case Mursilis' scenario would be the correct one) or by the computer system itself?

I would like to take your word for it^ but can anyone else verify this?

Not to add fuel to the fire, but no, the poker site software cannot search other computers on your network to see if they have prohibited software on them, anyone that knows anything about networking would realize that this is asinine. The only ways that anything to do with your IP address or personal network would come into play would be if you had two computers both trying to be logged in to different accounts at the same time and trying to play the same table.

Regardless of that, if you, or your "friend", are looking into using prohibited software, then you're more than likely just going to lose all of your money faster than if you just learned for real and played like a fish. None of those programs really show you enough substance to win alone without first knowing how to use the information, and the bot programs are all programmed to spew terribly by default, if that's what you or your "friend" is looking at.
