Use of seating scripts unethical in online play?

I do not use seating scripts. I’m aware that certain sites like pokerstars have finally banned their use outright (bout time). Since I play on ACR I see a large number of players using them in NL cash play. I reported 3 of them and all were recently banned from the site. What do you guys think of seating scripts and what the heck exactly is it?

I’ve never even heard of seating scripts. What are they? What do they do?

So apparently they auto seat a player at a cash game table once a new game starts based on statistics of the opponent. So basically you auto sit left of the player who’s weaker than you

I don’t agree with anything like this. There needs to be the element of chance that is left in the game. Abraham Lincoln said “You don’t strengthen the weak, by weakening the strong.” At the same time, you don’t take advantage of weaker players by intentionally putting them in a tougher spot.

There should be no manipulation of seating at all imo.

I hope those scripts will be banned from all poker sites. I don't like the idea of searching for bad players and fast register with them on tables. As a normal player with no helpful scripts its hard to catch a bad player at your table..and its not fair.

That is the first time every. seating scripts. I thought random seats not seating scripts. :mad:

To me there is no principle difference between seating scripts and "bots", since they both execute actions related to playing poker without any human involvement required. So I absolutely believe, that all poker sites should ban this kind of software.

Besides giving the user an unfair advantage scripts also tend to create excessively long waiting lists thus making it more difficult to get seated for non script users. And to add insult to injury if a seat become available, because the "fish" left, the script will discover this right away and not accept the seat.

This sometimes mean, that a table, which had 11 players waiting, might dissolve completely in a few minutes, as the regs, who were already seated, leave one by one, and none of the script users from the waiting list wants to play either, because the target is gone.

The most underhanded part to me is the fact the software preys upon a TARGET like you said. Seems nefarious...

It might sound bad but in live casinos I would look at all the tables for fish that I knew. Then I would put in a request for that table. I believe in taking every advantage I can. I never heard of seating scripts but even online if i see a fish at a table i go on that waiting list.
