I've never used tracking software before, but I want to start. The two most popular products seem to be "Poker Tracker" and "Hold'em Manager". On both of these respective web pages they list 'Supported Sites", and neither include the site that I play on. Does this mean that I can't use these products, and are all poker tracking programs "site specific"? Any advise on what to do or how to get started using any tracking software would be appreciated... Thanks a lot!

It would be helpful to know which site you want to use it on. PS you have to buy one, 888 as well as far as I know.
You can use the trial version of both in different rooms, and in freerolls mostly, just for testing purposes. But at the end you will have to make it real life and contract one of them to be eligible to use them with all their functuonality. ( I'm still winning for the 59$ version of pokertracker).
I'd say if you know anything about databases, I'd recommend Pokertracker, holdem- manager is easier to use.
compare it linux to windows ;)
select*from table player_name where player_name betsize>100% and winning hand is < two pairs can be done with both

Thanks for the reply... I'm playing on 'wsop.com' (only available for players in Nevada and New Jersey). But I used to use 'BetOnline', and it's not listed as supported either. I'm not sure I understand how to get started. Is the tracking software separate from the site, i.e., do I need to download hands from the site, or does this work in real time? Also, does the online site where you play have to "permit" it??

Hi. First, I don't know about New Jersey but it is against the rules (actually against the law I think) to use a HUD on the Las Vegas WSOP.com. For BetOnline you can use one called Drive HUD, there are threads that discuss that product in this forum. Normally the software is separate and runs in real time, showing stats on your opponents as they play.

If you are looking to use them not while you play but after you play to review your stats and specific hands you can do that also usually by loading in hand histories, but that varies from site to site and product to product.

New Jersey allows HUDs. Nevada sites interpret the law as not allowing tacking and do not write hand histories, so it is not possible to have a HUD on Nevada sites.
