I would actually prefer no one uses a hud. and online be just as live.
That is why we created PokerAce HUD many years ago long before we integrated the HUD into PokerTracker 4... the goal of the HUD has always been to replicate a live experience to the best of our ability. Live players have the advantage of an large amount of information used in combination with your live tracker - the human brain. The human brain is not "programed" to remember screen names or styles of play, so we created the HUD to mimic this ability. The human brain can process the stats displayed to emulate how the brain works in a live game, combining the stats to create an opponent profile in your head so you know how to act or react vs an opponent. If you take two players of equal skill, one live and the other online. Then have them both play 5,000 hands of duplicate poker against the same exact opponents, the online player gets to use a HUD. Which player has the advantage, live or online?
[spoil]clearly the live player has a HUGE advantage over the online player with the use of a HUD... this is because the HUD does not provide an edge, it is only a performance enhancement tool to help you remember who your opponents are, the edge comes from within you as a player.[/spoil]
Exactly. I doubt either(PT or HM) are going to do this out of box. I know with poker tracker you can have stats change color based on their value
Coloring options in PT4 -
1) HUD stats can change color using stat ranges. This is performed in the HUD Profile Editor
2) You can manually define a color for a player, that color will outline the player's on-table HUD Group
3) You can define color expressions to change the colors of individual stats that affect all HUDs or all Reports in the Configure > Stats window. This is the most complex, but it is also the most flexable because using this tool you can change the color of a stat based on the results of any other stat or database column - for example you can change the color of 3Bet preflop based on the opportunities to 3Bet preflop by using an opportunity column rather than a stat.
Notice that we do not automate the colors of the player, that must be done manually. We found that automated colors (aka Autorate) was actually bad for the learning progression of a player, it can promote a misunderstanding of who your opponent is, so we removed this feature (we had this in PT3, removed when we were developing PT4). We are positive this was the right decision to make, but I must admit it was very controversial when PT4 was released... over time many players who chastised us for our development decision have come to agree with us as their own play advanced.
\However, HM2 (and perhaps PT4, I have it also but don't recall) have auto-rate icons that will automatically assign little icons that represent styles like Fish, Whale, ABC, TAG, LAG, etc. automatically based on preset rules that you can tweak.
Autorate icons were created in PokerTracker 2, we removed this when developing PokerTracker 4 due to the reasons explained above. Players are not advised to use auto-rating, this tool has been known to accidentally cripple players ability to grow, in some ways we regret ever creating this tool, it was an accidental disservice to our users.
