Can SharkScope statistics be relied upon

The first time I looked myself up on SharkScope, I was surprised to find that it showed me in the hole on several sites on which I maintained positive balances, without ever having made a deposit. I have the kind of analytical mind that requires that things make sense. So I tried to come up with some reasoning to explain it. In the end the only solid conclusion that I was able to come to was that SharkScope stats cannot be relied upon to be accurate.

In fact, in just the last six days, two of my MTT cashes totaling close to $90 have failed to show up on SharkScope. In one of those tourneys I came in 5th place, earning $50. When I realized that the results of that tournament did not show up on my stats, I looked up a player that had finished a couple of places behind me. His stats did not reflect his recent cash in the same tourney. I looked up the player who had finished first in the tournament, winning about $189 and some change. His recent win was not reflected in his SharkScope statistics either. SharkScope did however have a record of my previous nights 92nd place finish. A few nights later, I cashed in the same $5 tourney again. This time for $40. Again the results never showed up SharkScope.

In the end it doesn't really matter that much. After all, I know how much I've cashed out. If my SharkScope stats cause my opponents to underestimate my abilities, that's perfectly fine with me. The only place it really matters to me is probably here on CardsChat. I mean if I am to give advice on strategy, I would think that people would naturally question who I am to be giving them advice. I know I ask that question of others. You might think that SharkScope would be a good place to get an ideal of how well a player might play, and therefore how much value should be placed on the advice that they're giving. I used to think so. However, my recent observations have only served to reinforce my opinion that SharkScope statistics cannot be relied upon to be accurate.

Yes, their statistics require customization. I did not go into this topic. If you are concerned about inaccurate graphics, then just turn off the data collection on you in the site settings. There will not be any graphs.

Is it the same on playerscope?

Some tourneys also dont get shown correctly like sattelites, so it might have something to do with the kind of tournament you play.

I think the stats are very accurate. Sometimes tournaments don't show up for up to a week after. Also if you believe a tournament is missing you can enter the tournament on sharkscope and it will be added. There are some discrepancies however for example on my smallfrie account (ACR) I have never been below zero but some CardsChat freerolls on pokerstars were paid to ACR so that screws up actual win loss total on Sharkscope also I have won a twitter raffle for a 500 and something buyin and a 65 dollar buyin so those tickets were added to my account and if lost would show as a loss even though it was a free buyin and really no money would be lost. I cashed the 500 something buyin for 700 something but sharkscope win was only 200 something because they don't know I had free buyin. But other than things like that and tournaments like satellites or cash games I think the site is accurate.I don't know if they have the capability to mine or access re-entry data but if they don't some totals on players may be much worse than listed. I am just now starting to trust online sites a little more and considering playing a little more seriously so my knowledge regarding tracking sites is not really up to snuff so I will be a lot more observant about tracking sites, up to now as far as online goes I have just been a casual player and not very observant so take my opinion with that in mind.Bottom line, I think Sharkscope will give you a pretty good overall picture of a players results as long as he or she has played enough tournaments for the data to mean anything at all :) lol But the data can be pretty screwed up because for example I have played probably 700 and something tournaments on ACR and of those probably 600 and something have been freerolls, so real tournaments of 100 and something mean very little but someone looking at the data would not know that I have only played a 100 something real tournaments :)

I've included SharkScope several times, but I have not figured it out yet. For me it's still a dark forest

If I'm not mistaken the balloon does not yet take into account the rebuys that the player made during the tournament

I have seen some errors on the data from Sharkscope this past week. It shows that I cashed in a tourney that I got knocked of almost immediately. Not sure what's going on but its made me second guess the info SharkScope provides to its users.

I have notices that sharkscope does not track results of tournaments where you buy-in with tickets instead of cash.

I ran across this Thread last week, and went to the site to check it out.
I'm a very cautious person about anything I'm not fully understanding of, so I've been just "playing" around on the FREE tools it has for now. Which has, so far, limited me to just 3 player searches a day. I'd add...for ANYONE that runs across this thread, .....that alot of the features in tool bar aren't going to come up without signing up for the "advanced" version.
I haven't personally even clicked the little pop up because I'm fairly sure that once I do...it's just going direct to buying it, and I've no problem there, I understand to "rituals" of signing up for information. Just a thingy thing.

WITH THAT SAID......
I'm brand new, as I've stated before, back to online poker cash games and I've got
NO complaints for the FREE access on the site that you get to just to check out the initial workings on the site. I was a bit lost at first try...really wasted my first daily 3 PLAYER LIMIT . Just a HEADSUP for anyone else that might read all this, that like me, is fairly new to the online formats now'a'days.

HOWEVER... ((where's my smiley face, where's my smiley face))......

today...I did not waste my FREE, limited, utilization, of 3 player names.

Nope.

((oh,oh,oh...where IS my smiley face button!!??))

and I'd like to say....
that IF....you are new, like me, to today's online poker sites, .....

mess around with, and learn to use, and discover the usefullness.....

of just the free access.

:)

I'm'uh gun'uh do a search on CardsChat...for more imput on buying the full versionn.

jezzzzz.....say'n.

lol

If the full access can provide any further benefit than the free, limited, access has provided for me today ((after spending the time to mess with it a bit)).....

I'M ALLIN!!!!

:)

Thankyou CardsChat, for this thread.

yep.

((tithe ck...is in the mail))

:)

I also have my doubts about whether the statistics are accurate, I'm going to opt in and check the data with the good results I had last year, anyway it would be nice if someone who understands more help us to get our doubts.

I used sharkscope many years ago and found it trustworthy within a 90th percentile. It is not perfect but it will give you an idea of who and what you are up against when you are at a final table...SNG especially.

that's how I feel ^^
I really don't need to know a guy's exact ROI, just what stakes he plays and if he wins regularly or not
