Hey all,

Two questions. Don't have much in my account, but decided that in order to take this poker seriously, I MUST get tracking software.

Whenever I ask a question that I feel might have been asked before, I try to search to see if it has been asked. I saw various answers, but not succinct enough. So, I'll ask again.

Poker Tracker or Holdem Manager? (I actually will create a poll, so it will be available for others)

Second, can I purchase it from my FT bankroll? Or do I have to use my credit card/paypal/etc?

Thanks!

I recently asked PT about this and they said they were no longer able to accept transfers from poker accounts. Never asked HEM

Omaha/Tournament Indicator did though. You might want to check them out.

I believe both PS and FT now have a policy against purchasing products with transfers, although some vendors are still skirting around it on a case-by-case basis.

HEM gets my vote, after using both. Although admittedly I haven't used PT3 since shortly after it was first released, as that's when I tried HEM and preferred it.

Either one, you can't go wrong.

Yep. I use PT3, good support etc. Either can be had for free by signing up at a sponsor site and playing out yr points... look around.

Just my $0.02 on this...

While the Indicator line of products are decent at what they do, they in no way compare to a full tracking tool like HEM/PT3. I can't really recommend them as a substitute. They're more useful for raw beginners who are just trying to understand pots odds, equity, and basic stats like VPIP/PFR. You can't do any self-analysis with it, nor any custom reports or filters, which is where HEM & PT3 really pay for themselves. They've recently added a HUD but it's very basic, again suitable to a beginner but not to a regular player who is looking to really improve their game.

Not only that, but unless you get them free from room signup promotions (not recommended if you ever intend to pursue rakeback, which would be far more lucrative), the Indicator products are individually priced for the games you play (i.e. Omaha Indicator, Hold'em Indicator (for cash), and Tournament Indicator) at the same price each as the Pro version of HEM & PT3. You pay extra for the Omaha add-ons to HEM/PT3, but cash and tournament support is included for the one price.

I think the OP is of the level to gain a lot more from HEM/PT3 than of the Indicator products.

I can't believe the indicator products are still around to be honest. I remember them being pretty big before HEM and PT2 were huge, but now I couldn't see why anyone would ever go for such useless crap anymore, when they can get all of that and more out of HEM/PT3. And they can even get those through the sites through offers.

Expanding on what dmorris said, I wouldn't sign up to get it for free through an affiliate site unless you only plan on using that site to clear the bonus to get your license and then stop using that account, because you will never be able to get rakeback on it and that would be screwing yourself out of a lot of free money down the road at that site. It is a much better idea to just pay for the software and then sign up at whatever site you want to with a rakeback account and you will end up paying off the program with your rakeback and then still make more after that.

Upon rethink, yes this is good advice. Also, I got my PT3 thru a deal with Titan, before seeing that CC was hosting 1K FRs for singing up thru here. Dang.

I got them because I was able to transfer my FTP money for them and really want to dump that BR. They gave me a good deal because I wanted Omaha and Tourney att eh same time. Maybe there could have been better ways to transfer the money or even cask out buy something else. I am pretty happy with them. They both have HUDs now.

Yes I agree I can not do self analysis with the indicator products but they are still working on them so who knows what he future might bring.

Although not hard to figure out it is still nice to see right there in front of you.

True you can not do self analysis with the indicator products (at the moment) but they are still working on them so who knows what the future might bring.
