Anyone know what's up with Popopop Auto Replayer?
I read awhile back that the guy who originally set it up was moving on & was looking for someone to take it over for him... and last time on the site it was still down.
Tonight I went to open up it up & got a warning on my screen. Still safe to run it? (I'm obv. not very puter literate). any help appreciated

PO I agree this tool is great for reviewing a session. I think you already foind out but there doesnt seem to be much to worry about. Software should be safe.

Yeah it was taken over by an Italian development team who renamed it Universal Replayer and created a new web site. So it's entirely possible that you didn't get the latest version if you're getting it from the original source.

Re: the above security warning, the original author probably let his certificate expire. Not at all uncommon, especially for free/OSS software.

On a semi-related note, I just developed a tool to take a group of players' HH files and merge holecard info into one HH for review in Replayer with all holecards exposed. Over at DTB zerosum79 (Greg Jones) hosted a little "Smackdown" SnG (which was actually a 12-man MTT). I gathered up the HH from everyone and wrote this tool to merge the holecards. Now Greg is taking that merged HH and recording a group review video. It will be different than most such reviews with all holecards exposed. :) He had done this once before by manually editing the HH's by hand, which is incredibly tedious as you can imagine -- with this tool automating that process this might become a more popular group coaching option.

That video sounds awesome. I would love to see a copy of that. Also i think that tool would be very good for CC memebrs to be able to play some sessions together and then review the session with all hole cards exposed. Sort of like a good training for all.

Well, join DTB then. :) I think Greg said it was going to be his second November video. They do have a free trial period if you haven't checked them out yet.

Yeah, I was actually thinking it would be cool to use it with some of the CC events or league games and recruiting one our top tournament players to record a Replayer review video.

Having all holecards exposed makes for a much more thorough group review/coaching session. Although I can predict that some people are going to be a bit sensitive about it, whether due to opening themselves up for criticism, or giving away some of their bluffing strategies, or whatever. And it would be awkward to use in MTTs unless you restrict the review to the final table, but it works really well for STT SnGs.

If anyone here is interested in organizing something like that, let me know. I'm still polishing up the tool before I distribute it, as it's now in a functional but pretty rough state since I rushed it along for Greg's review.

Wow d, I am impressed but hardly surprised. I certainly hope you will be receiving some perks from DTB for this contribution. Maybe they'll even ask you to become one of their staff. :)

I will definitely be joining DTB but I'm going to wait until January after the holiday hoopla is over. If I joined before then I would be tempted to play hookie from the zillions of resposibilities on my plate now.

I would also like to participate in the group review/coaching sessions you describe though, again, time is limited right now.

Ha! Thanks Lark, but I'm reasonably certain I'm nowhere close to joining their staff. Certainly not in a "poker coaching/expertise" position -- I know I'm light-years from that level.

Maybe if one day Hunter lost his mind and was desperate for some technical help, I might have a shot at that. :) He and I have had a few technical discussions about the forum, and I do have a lot of expertise with software development, including forum enhancements. I've had quite a few poker-related software ideas baking for some time now, I just haven't had the time/incentive/motivation to get much done other than this HH merge tool, which was a pretty quick & easy effort.

I wouldn't mind at all working for a site like CC or DTB and contributing from the software side of things. I've done it for years with other, non-poker-related sites/forums.
