Possibly it is not for me?
For the most part. AFAIK, PT4 will do all the leg work. You might get asked to verify folders or some such. It will collect the hands as they come in, do all the magic stuff it can do via a database, and store that info. After a certain number of hands it will provide you with a HUD, on the table. PT4 was a snap to install, for me that was it's most impressive feature.
I decided not to upgrade tho, too many changes and for me useless stats.
There is a very old version of PT2 that does stud, all varieties, not sure if they still sell it, or support it, but my guess is they wouldn't need much support, it is, like I said, an old program and the assumption is that it works fine.
Beyond the trial version, the Omaha parts of PT4 would cost you extra.
If I/you were/are just starting out, PT4 will give you what you want.
As for tourney's vs ring. Being a tourney guy, I found that the best way for me to use the HUD was to limit the HUD to that particular game. Done via the HUD, it would be a rolling hand count.
Since I have been playing more off games, O/O8/and the studs, I am not worried that I lost my dbase when my Hard Drive crashed last week.
