Odds Calculator

Hello Fellow CCer's & Staff, can someone please let me know what is the best odds calculator on the web that will be compatible with most major poker rooms? Like Carbon - Cake - Doyles- FTP - AP - UB - bodog - PS - Please add any comments about any special feature's. Thanks

I will sum this up briefly for you if you cannot work out to a reasonable degree of accuracy your probability of hitting a flush then you are handicapped in your ambition to become a winning player.

I know there are professional poker players who say they don't use much math But I think they are referring to player modeling and player dynamics which can turn into very complicated arithmetic and of cause a lot of people are not able to do, but you can have a vague idea where you are without this anyway.

However if you cannot work out your odds for making a flush quickly how can you work out your implied odds? if you think you can bluff people of a hand how can you know if it be a profitable play?

Maths is an essential part of poker, and whilst I think it is possible to succeed at the highest levels without a high degree of mathematical skill , I do not believe it is realistically possible to succeed at mediocre stake level without basic mathematical ability.

thus I do not believe you can earn a high wage from poker if you need an odds calculator to do the math for you.

albeit there are programs out there that exist, combined with a program that tells you player dynamics and success of such plays etc effectively doing everything for you (why don't you just get a bot and not play at all at this point) you probably could win at higher levels.

I think such tools are wrong, and disapprove.

if you are not so able at math you can always memorize the odds, I am good at math but there still stuff I cannot do. So I have purchased certain poker books and memorized the odds for such circumstances. I have also when a weird situation occurs gone over and reviewed it.

if you wish to look up odds for remembering yourself you can find these by typing in poker odds into google. here you can play hands out at every stage against each other and see how they match up.

Most sites do not allow you to use odds calculators when playing, it is against there TOS. In the end I believe these are bad for your game as you will use them as a crutch and not develop your game. In the ling run they will hurt you.

PPA has one that can be used at the big sites. Poker players Alliance. its free to try for play money but cost to use for real money

I also think that Odds Calculators arent worth your while. How can they accurately predict what your odds are not knowing what the other person has. Use your own calculator called your brain. It only gets better with the more poker you play.

Are we talking about things like Texas CalculateEm and Holdem Indicator and the like, or are we talking about something else?

I've seen in video's by pro's from certain sites they use odds calculator's to help them in SnG's which seems to help them make dicission's in situation's. That is why I'm interested in these Odds calculator's.

When I used it I usually lost.

I'm bad about calulating my odds for the turn and river and overcalling on hands that I should be folding. One big area that I need to improve.

Not true. Odds calculators are allowed by virtually all the major sites, including pokerstars, FT, Cereus, and Cake. Examples being Hold'em Indicator and Tournament Indicator. It's just calculating for you what you would calculate yourself using your head or a conventional calculator. They have no problem with this.

There are basically 3 classes of software tools that the sites don't allow: (1) tools that play for you (i.e. bots), (2) tools that suggest what move you should make, and (3) tools that implement a shared DB of player stats, other than players you've played yourself. Other than those, most all tracking/HUD and odds calculating tools are allowed. Cake has a few more restrictions than the other popular US-friendly sites, but they still allow the use of calculators and limited tracking tools. For example, they now allow using HEM for tracking your own play (but not that of other players) because Roy engaged them and agreed to restrict HEM's capabilities for Cake games. Most of the major tool developers actively work with the sites like this to remain in compliance.

Calculators can be useful for beginners who are just learning how to calculate odds, as it gives instant feedback on whether you're doing it right. Obviously if you never learn to do it yourself and depend on the calculator all the time, then it's a crutch and you'll suffer in a live game or where you don't have the calculator. Same as with a HUD, which nearly all of your advanced online players use (especially when multi-tabling). Even advanced players will sometimes use calculators because it frees your mind to concentrate on other things, such as betting patterns and player stats, especially in fast online play (again, especially when multi-tabling), where you don't the time you have in live games to think through the odds, betting patterns, etc.

Huh? The same way every good poker player calculates explicit pot odds, implied odds, and win odds in their head. You count outs and pot amounts and do the math. That's all a simple odds calculator like Hold'em Indicator does.

I always surprises me to see the old-school Luddite response to online poker tools and the amount of misinformation out there about them. People need to realize that online poker is an entirely different game than live poker. You lose most of the tells and all of the "feel" of a live game. Software tools help make up for for this information loss in online poker. Not only that, but just installing and running a tool isn't going to make you a better player -- it takes some degree of skill and experience to properly use the tools and interpret the data. It's a trade-off, and the reason why all the sites allow these classes of tools as long as they don't automate your play.

I downloaded simple odds calculator I believe to be compatible with any site from pokernews.com.

I think the best calculator out there is Holdem Indicator for cash games & Tournament indicator for tournaments

I agree with telboy with holdem indicator and tournament indicator for odds.
But both are as much expensive as software like holdem manager or poker tracker 3.

I think on the long run, if you really want to learn poker and play well, you'll be winning more with tracking software than with an odd calculator.

By the way, you can get a free and very useful poker odds software: Pokerstove.
But it's not to use on poker rooms, you must input the cards manually.

I tryed calculators and I didnt like them !
I keep track of my games and results and just keep a few notes on what I have learned
