I recently purchased HEM2 licence, im on trial of note caddy and it looks really helpful and saves to me a lot of time, i almost don't take any notes on my own and it takes notes that most probably wont notice at all...

but do i really need it, has anyone paid for it? is it really worth the money and is a must have or i can live without it?

Thanks in advance!!!

There are benefits that would be a lot harder to realize on your own. The automation; keeping track of both how often someone takes/doesn't take an action + the implied strength or weakness (hand isn't shown, but they acted strong or weak) and ability to see hands they actually showdown are nice.

You can see all of your hands, not just from this point on.

You can do analysis on the player pool, to see what the average reg does.

In 2.5, there will be timing tells for some sites.

As with any software tool, you should use it to aid, not as your entire reliance. Nothing will replace watching how someone plays. You learn so much more by observing them and studying them in reports.

you can live without it, if you set it up really well, it can mean you having a lot more info on your HUD without it taking up too much space. The benefits for me personally are that i can view what people do in certain spots in terms of shoving/folding for certain stack sizes, which is great in SNG.

overall it's a big investment to make, so do some research. I think it runs a trial(not sure about this) and if so, make full use of that.

If it is missing something, you should post in the note caddy forum regarding that.

HM2 has a beta in testing for NC 2.5 on our forums.

HM Cloud is a brand new beta program and did not have any type of NoteCaddy features when first released. We have been testing it internally for some time and have started to open it up for private beta for those that use HM Cloud Beta. There is nothing in the HM Cloud NoteCaddy Beta that is not in HM2's NC (2.4 or 2.5 beta) already.

I am also thinking what kind of software would be good to try and improve the way of my play even more.

Tried Hold'EM manager if I recall right but was feeling like an idiot truly because I couldn't figure out even the simplest things in it.. and I had manual in my mothertongue to it.. So my feelings are mixed from that time till now.. :)

I bought NC and am pretty unhappy with it... sadly it seems I can't sell the licence.

The problem is that note generation takes time and volume of notes makes the database larger, which is a problem if you play a lot like I do... and if you don't play a lot, well then get off your lazy ass and learn to make manual notes :p

If database software was better (no performance drop in larger databases) I would probably change my mind, but I just find it better to have notes in poker client - this way my computer doesn't have to deal with handling them and that is a huge plus. I do a lot of database analysis and making good notes and transferring them to poker client is the best approach for me.

You can control the # of threads used to create notes. The more you use, the faster they will be processed. You can disable any note definitions you do not use. You can create a smaller database to play on.

PostgreSQL is the best option of the free SQL programs. MySQL is not as good. We tested them both. SQL handles large data well. It is the preferred language for large databases.

Please see this FAQ to alleviate any security bottlenecks:

See this for HM2 performance tips:

I know about threads, the issue is that I play a lot and database gets huge due to notes which kills performance and that sucks when I have 200 USD+ on the tables (4 tables of 50NL). I had quite a few freezes and all hands fold out, which is a huge problem sometimes.

Now I have Task manager open always so I can kill HM2 quickly if it lags. Making a new database (without notes!) helped too.

Thing is, I am quite happy with HUD stats that are already included with HM2 and NC simply doesn't give much additional value (I have a very good custom HUD).

Disabling note definitions would help with the database size issue (but then it limits functionality somewhat), still I just don't find much use for NC. I am very big on manual note taking and it serves me well.
