I use PT4 but I might be able to help here. I have a custom HUD after reading quite a bit online but it's more suited for cash games.
For tourney plays the essential ones I find are:
- VPIP
- PFR
- AF
- BB (Your stack in BBs)
- M (Harrington's M)
- Hands (Sample size)
Over larger hand samples (atleast a 100 but ideally above 500
hands) others that might be useful are:
- 3B (preflop)
- WTSD
- WSD
- Preflop Limp
- Preflop Limp fold
- Attempt to Steal
- Fold to Steal
I have others in my HUD that I don't find very useful because they require sample sizes of 1K hands or more, which you'll rarely find among players playing freerolls. These come in more handy when you face regs at higher buy ins.
- Fold to PF 3B
- Fold to Flop CB
I don't refer to some of these now that I'm playing the micros because the player pool varies so much. And some of them might not be useful at all to you and just clutter your HUD. Best to do some independent research, play through your HUD and customize it to your preference.
Customizing HUD based on stages in the MTT is not something I'm familiar is available in PT4. But I have customized it to reflect different numbers based on their full ring play vs 6 max vs 3 handed play. So if I play the same player in a 6-max or at a final table with just 2-3 players it will not bring up the numbers for the full ring games I've played against them. This I find is very useful if you face regs at micros while switching b/w different game formats.
