I'm currently using the carbon odds calculator and one of the stats is VPIP ( voluntarily put money in pot ) and while I play, this stat is always in red and is around 30 and I thought that it being higher would be better for my LAG play style? is it because I primarily play sngs and the sample size is to small? As in 30% is to much even for loose play? That's the only thing I can think of and I'm still getting used to using software so any opinions are welcome

I don't think 30% is all that laggy, to be honest. Also, you end up being dealt a lot of hands in an sng, so the sample size shouldn't be too small.

Me ether but I didn't understand y that program flagged it for only being 32% and all it means is I bet rather than call and for a loose play style that might not even be high enough

It's probably giving recommendations based on full ring and not 6max. 30%+ VPIP in FR would be very loose-aggressive.

Most software programs recommendations for what is "good" play or "good" ranges are meh at best. Often these numbers are derived from mediocre poker players estimations or outdated rules of thumb/game mechanics. Also there are many ways to influence stats (maybe I'm tight in all positions but always defend my blind) that one can not see by mere analysis of VPIP. Or maybe Im super tight UTG and MP, but I raise 100% of buttons.

Programs are good tools, but many players use them sub-optimally by thinking their authors know everything there is to know about poker... and that's a terrible assumption :)

I was playing full ring and that makes a lot of sense and while i was using PT4 it broke it down into position but until my BR can afford it I'm stuck with carbons stat tracker and I just hate seeing Red on my reports

Was just curious what Leakbuster recommended for VPIP. The max recommended range it shows is about 29%. It is based on analysis hundreds of millions of hands of winning players , and isn't saying you can't play with a higher VPIP, but that once you start going higher than that winrates typically start to drop off. So less players that can play that sort of style profitably.
