To HUD or not to HUD, that is the question.

Was wondering how many of you recreational poker players use a HUD?
I've been toying with the free one at Carbon Poker (until i got a warning about a - Malware-gen from my virus software).

It seems like it would be helpful even at my lowly level. What are your feelings regarding using HUD and if you are Pro HUD, which is the best to use?

If you plan playing poker seriously, need necessarily HUD... At least the most basic stats VPIP/ PFR/ AF/ hands...

Thanks Horizon,
I'm probably going to be more of a tournament player. It seems to be where I have some success. I'm only playing low stakes for now, but hope to move up as I get a better understanding of the game.
Do you feel the HUD is useful in tournament play as well as the cash tables?

This is the one I'm looking at (HM2). I think you are correct about single table play, but with the players switching so often on the tables, it would be nice to start collecting some info on them. It seems that I miss some money making opportunities when a new player sits and I don't have a read on him yet. I feel like I end up playing too soft until I understand their play.

For MTT not very useful HUD, because we will not have too many hands on the opponent, and a lot of players playing in different ways when them stack decreases and when the blinds increase. That's why many players using only basic stats VPIP /PFR /3bet /Hands, it is quite enough.

In cash games on the contrary, since we always have above the average stack, HUD becomes very useful, strategy game will be the same because the size of the stack is not putting pressure on the opponent...Thus you need a lot more statistics on the opponents to find weaknesses..

Poker trackers

Do you guys use poker trackers, which provide all the stats? I know that plenty of online players use it, but is it really that useful? And if yes what is the best one, and is it worth paying for?

Yes, you need HUD..if you plan to play seriously.

Without HUD other players who uses the software, will have a big advantage and regulars will be more exploiting your game..

Maybe I'm old fashioned. But in live poker since when were their HUDs? Your own brain was the HUD. Watching, remembering, memorizing, reading the person, reading the cards and the table. Build that skill, and the transition from online play to live play is smooth. The best thing these applications are good for is tracking hand history, reporting, graphs, and bankroll management. Unless you're a paper and pencil guy or do your own tracking on Excel, you won't need either and probably a better player than most online or offline.

I realized real quick huds aren't what there cut out to be, like all seeing, they can an do give you hints of someones play, but just because it reads that they do certain things at certain times doesn't mean that they will, you still need to use your own noggin!!!
