trying the basic jivaro just now actually, not loving it but i guess thats because it's basic and free :D it does the job for the basic gist of things i guess but starting to guess i should invest in a full version. holdem manager sounds the best so far. i only play mtts, not sure how my game can hold up in the long term of cash games at this point :p thanks for your input :)

If you're only playing freerolls I don't think a HUD is necessary, and for what they cost it would take you forever to recoup that with the edge it provides

I used the free trial for poker tracker 4, try it out its free for 1 month and if you win a lot and feel it help you its around $80 to buy the full version. I believe huds help so might as well try one out. jivaros basic if you download it today will give you 1 month free premium also.

For free rolls you really don't need one. Once you get serious about poker though, a poker hud and database are essential tools for online play.

People often play freerolls, real money tournaments and ring games differently so the stats gathered will be skewed.

Strangely despite the size of the online poker market there is only one company selling the two main HUDs.
Jivaro was an interesting market entry but then started monthly subscription which soon becomes more expensive than the one off costs.
And most strangely for such a large online market there was only one open source project which was poorly supported. https://sourceforge.net/projects/fpdb/

It would appear that the majority of players were happy to acquire and use either one or sometimes both of the market leaders.

IMO.

There are a lot of free and free trial HUD, just try them out and see if it improves your game.

here is one if you want to give it a try DriveHUD it's awesome. Another one I enjoy is Tournament Indicator. Its very informative and you can have it in different views like mini or vertical or horizontal. Give it a try, you'll like it a lot.

You need a HUD to analyze your results.
How else do you know whether you are profitable when raising in EP with AJo?

What support programs for poker do you use?

Many enjoy the support programs, when they play at multiple tables. For statistical purposes and a reasonable choice of action.
A program you are using, or rely only on their own knowledge and intuition?

For freerolls you don't need a HUD , it won't be so usefull, people is playing with any cards... But for cash games or other than freerolls tournaments , everybody , unfortunately , needs to buy one ...

I believe HUD will be banned eventually. So get better without using one is my advice. I have never used one and don't plan on it. I don't fault anyone for using one as most do and you need one to even the playing field. But the sooner they are banned the better.

Personally, I choose not to HUD. It's not that I have anything against them. I've played around with them in the past, when there were free trial offers for various ones. I also used the free one offered on Carbon Poker when I remembered. My initial opinion about them was that they were interesting, but I could almost always get a read on my opponents much faster than the HUD could just by paying attention. I figured that they would become more useful as they accumulated more data over time.

From what I have heard from players that do use them, they are most useful to players who multi-table a lot, playing several S&Gs or cash game tables at a time. It makes since to me that with the right stats displayed, it would be possible to get an idea how someone might play or at least some of their tendencies at a quick glance.

I tend to be more of a tournament player. When I play cash games, my preference is to play at least $50NL up to about $400NL. At those stakes, I prefer to focus on one table at a time. Since I do tend to only play one table at a time, I find that paying attention and keeping good notes precludes the necessity to use a HUD.

there are a lot of HUDs to chose from that if you take the trials one by one, it will take you at least 6 months before you get to buy one...

Do you know if any are compatible on the ipad? If not I don't suppose you could list the top 5/6 that I could look into to purchase on a future laptop/pc. I've just came across this advantage of my opponents now I'm taking poker more seriously and always felt their was some kind of edge over me long term now I've come to understand why! Their are very helpful tools out there.
Good to hear poster not using the tool however more faith in humanity..

I dont know about ipad but for laptop/PC you can try

Holdem manager2
Pokertracker4
Holdem Indicator
Jivaro
Poker copilot
DriveHUD

Before you get your HUD, check if the HUD is compatible with the site you want to play. like for example, hm2 and PT4 needs a card catcher App to let it work for BOL or ignition.
